Well, I quite like it...

...you don't see it do you?  What you have written is exactly what we got, a £20 add-on that converted FSX to 64-bit.  Of course i would buy it, i did buy it at that asking price it's a steal.  But i standby my statement that DTG have been lazy they have given us the minimum they thought they would get away with; if you takeaway the 64-bit element you are left with FSX with a new (and i would say awful) UI.

It all depends on taste... For me it's a much nicer / attractive GUI, a much nicer look of the in-sim experience, and while I never experienced OOMs in FSX:SE, I'll most probably have an even lower chance of getting them in FSW.

But even if this wasn't sufficient, FSW brought me 7 airplanes of a quality FSX ( and P3D or X-Plane ) never gave me in their basic / vanilla versions, a considerable update of the airfield database affecting very positively the areas I fly over / from / to in real life, very nice weather rendering, integrated A2A's AcuFeel technology, integrated ORBX-quality scenery ( landclass and probably also vector data ? ), all for JUST ! €30,00 !!!

Don't I have good reasons to feel happy and have good expectations about the future of this platform ????

I do feel that way, and I am sorry you don't - that's your taste, and we have different tastes / views which is perfectly acceptable and good for the sake of diversity :-)

FSW is much more then 64bit FSX, the problem is with some people's expectations and negativism. They fixed a lot of bugs we have reported in forum(i noticed on the first flight - no more mouse pointer lag, drifting eyepoint in VC and many other that annoyed me), and added new features. If you open FSW.cfg there are some interesting new things that can give us a clue, for me it's very interesting.

I noticed many complaints about performance - of course you can't get same fps like with vanila FSX, FSX doesn't have cockpit shadows, cloud shadows, etc. Performance is much better then FSX DX10 with all of them enabled. With FSW i have 30+ fps at KSEA in bad weather, and sim runs smooth even with my old 560ti.

What i'd like to see is more options in display settings, i would disable some eye candy in order to increase other details on my old system(i did that in fsw.cfg but there should be more). But FSW can be realy great sim in my opinion, i'll try to support it

The way I look at it. If DT is just going to release a 64 bit and make it look like FSX with Orbx and a really poor selection on REX of a sky day texture. Only to then not have a open conversation with the 3rd party devs, why release a 64 bit? It seems the business model is basically to drive sales (as they have said of steam core customer base) who most likely won't even have an OOM because they are not stacking up vas with 7 add-ons every session (like me). These customers most likely spend the time doing barrel roles and flying around buildings.

If that is the customer base who they say are the core customers , and as I have seen around other post particularly the PMDG op-ed. They should have simply sold more expansions in the steam store for those customers with FSX SE.

As it stands for me. I don't see the big difference in this sim.  My P3D with PTA and the same Orbx global they are using looks better than this sim.  I feel like they added a function that I won't ever be able to use. Because I spend 90% of my time flying airliners by 3rd party devs, not to mention I will have to pay for these. To which I will most likely have to pay hefty for if they MUST sell on the steam store.

At least with P3D v4 most devs have promised free upgrades to that version so im already looking forward to it even if the only thing I am getting is 64Bit. My money doesn't grow on trees and I don't consider my self and amateur flight simmer.  This will work great for the $15-30 add-ons. But the study level sim if they sell it in Steam. I can predict $200 price tags.

So im sorry but im not seeing it yet. Maybe they are better of making a console or a arcade version of it and let the study level hard core gamer stuff to another group.

Exactly my problem with P3d - the base costs $190,00 and the add-ons are always a lot more expensive, not to count on the amount some pay for - sorry for say so... - simple upgrades from the FSX to the P3D version... I'm sure I would spend a lot more for the same number of add-ons + base platform with P3Dv4 than going DTG FSW...

But I'm a professional pilot, see ?  I have to buy the Professional License, or at least the monthly non-recurring license, which is what I did for instance to test FSLabs Airbus....

But provided I get a nice Airbus to play in FSW, I'll be fine with it!

I do, J. I don't like the licinening deal, but I'm not going to compromise my integrity just to save some money.  Probably odd to most, but important to me.

Most P3D users are flagrantly abusing the licensing and then complaining about DTG's business model and treatment of third party devs.

Come on, let's not start talking about the EULA again.
