What does FSW do that other sims don't?

May be I'm wrong but in the P3D V4 video by Jordan King on Youtube at 2'12, the text suggests that FSUIPC is include in the program...

No but in the comments to one of the AirDaily X  live streams, Rob A. said that a compatible FSUIPC version was in the works.

+1 Great news...

As could have been predicted, Pete is on vacation during the week of the release date, so FSUIPC for v4 will not be ready at that time.

A reliable source has said that Pete is more likely than not working on it.

What does it do that other sims don't? Well at the moment in comparison to, for example, a souped up FSX or even FS9 providing you can get the frame rates, not a lot in the broad sense, but that is not to say it doesn't do anything at all which other sims don't.

it does...

...Come with a few Carenado planes by default, which depending on what you think about Carenado, could be viewed as either a plus point or a minus point lol.

...Not run out of virtual address space memory like 32 bit applications potentially can.

...Use the GPU to get good frame rates (better by a long way than FS on my system), although to be fair, AeroFly 2 is frankly the pretty much unbeatable benchmark on that score at the moment.

...Have a very nice windscreen rain effect, if that kind of thing floats your boat.

...Look a lot better than the default versions of FS, which is at the moment the only fair comparison one might make, since there are no add-ons for it yet, and doesn't seem to mind having autogen up pretty high where frame rates are concerned.

...Load faster than FSX and FSX-SE.

...Have some improved ATC over the default FS one, and that by definition means it is better than X-Plane's ATC and of course is also by definition better than AeroFly 2 in that regard, since there ain't any ATC in that one. Depending on whether you like or dislike the FSW ATC tweaks, it could be viewed as either better or worse than that of P3D, but it's probably a moot point since one of the first things most people do with their sim is stick a third party ATC app in there lol.

...Have a worse flight planner than even FS9 which really needs to be changed and hopefully will.

... Have less graphics tweaking options than most sims. Hopefully that will change too.

...Look way too bright and contains no means to correct that, although this is apparently due to change within the next week or so with an update.

...Potentially have some really nice built in realistic weather coming for it if the deal goes through with trueSky, as it may possibly do. The folder is already in there for it, but presently empty, so I guess we'll see.

...Have some nice and indeed challenging missions and will come with a mission designer too eventually.

...Have a few well-liked external developers contributing stuff to it.

...Not cost a lot, potentially nothing in fact if you bought Flight School, especially if you bought flight School in a Steam sale for ten quid, as I did lol.

...Have a developer which is going to expose it to a massive market (125 million registered users), which is a big hook for developers who want a lot of exposure without the expense of paying to advertise their wares.

...Not have any jets or helicopters.

...Have a somewhat updated database although there are some airports in there which no longer exist in the real world, so it's by no means completely up to date in this regard.

...
