The developer emailed me some of the main features

1. Synthetic Vision System ( They claim it's the first for Flight Simulations )
2. Rockwell Collins HUD with LED lights
3. FMC ( navigraph subscription )
4. Touch screen Buttons ( He told me it can display flight plans , act as a radio e.t.c so i assume it's like the gtn 750 on steroids , Gulfstream style
5. Tested by 1 former real world Gulfstream pilot

 

and he says his slogan is  =     Make Flight Sim ( Great ) Gulfstream again

 

(EDIT: He ( The Developer ) is in communication with General dynamics + Gulfstream and they're treating it with an unlax demeanor and will allow the project to grow relying on some conditions to be met

Any prospective developer must have been living under a rock for years not to know that Dassualt and Gulfstream have always shut down any attempt at flightsim models    I can only assume this has been cleared with Gulfstream and that they may have had a change of mind.  Seems to be alot invested here already

GAC can't "shut it down" in the sense that they can march in like U.S. Marshals with a restraining order, and start seizing computers, source code and graphics files. What they can do is to threaten to sue for trademark infringement. GAC is almost insanely protective of the name "Gulfstream", and (interestingly) have a trademark (not a patent) on the specific shape of the classic oval passenger windows on the fuselage.

Few if any developers would have the resources to even think of trying to fight such a suit brought by a major corporation, so the mere threat would be sufficient.

Now - if the developer is not based in the U.S., such a suit becomes more problematic, depending on what country they are located in.

Looking at the developer's Facebook page, I note that at no time do they call the aircraft a "Gulfstream" - and on their web site, there is a disclaimer which specifically states that the aircraft under development is "Not a Gulfstream", or a product of General Dynamics. Whether that disclaimer would be sufficient to protect them against a infringement lawsuit is doubtful.

One big difference between GAC and other aircraft manufacturers like Boeing, Cessna and (recently) Airbus, is that those manufacturers are perfectly willing to officially license "approved" emulations of their products for use in flight simulation. GAC has been approached by more than one developer, and have flatly refused to consider doing so.

Dassault is not as hyper-protective of their brand as GAC is. They have officially licensed at least one developer (Wilco) to develop an FSX model of the 7X - (though from the reviews I have seen, the Wilco product is junk) - and there have been a couple of excellent freeware Falcon 50s which have never gotten any negative reaction from Dassault.

GAC, on the other hand, flatly refuses to even consider licensing any emulation of any of their aircraft.

I looked into doing my "first" FS project with a (not to be named) experimental aircraft (seaplane) and was basically asked "how much money will I provide" in order to see design prints and real world aircraft data.  I explained my business aspect along with projected sales numbers and why the money he was talking about would prevent the project from getting started beyond this "introduction/request".  No further communication after that.  It was a sobering experience and I hope this is not "precedence" for all experimental aircraft companies.

I also had a similar experience when trying to acquire satellite imagery, cost for licensed distribution of such imagery was extremely expensive.  I don't know how existing 3rd party content providers do it?  I'm obviously missing something they seem to have access to that doesn't cost upwards of Millions of US to acquire.  It has given me a new appreciation of the costs involved to produce content for Flight Simulators and that's before ANY work is started.

Guess I better start talking to Cessna. :)

I have a love/hate relationship with licensing. On the one hand, I would like any licensed aircraft/cars in a PC simulator to be as accurate as possible, but on the other hand I get the distinct feeling that some owners of popular brand names are living in cloud cuckoo land when it comes to appreciating the fine margins that most PC game development companies are working with.

Well that's just it.  Most have no idea about the gaming market, even less the flightsim market and I am sure the large name games like GTA V and the rest are their general frame of reference when it comes to distribution and revenue

Have some faith, this is by far the closest anybody has gotten. I mean look at the cockpit shots in the timeline photos!

Even the donation-ware "AI" 450 is the better than what is out there now for Flight Sim IMHO
