V4 Expectations

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I know this thread is mostly guessing as we don't have any clues other than 64bit and new lighting for Prepar3D v4. I hope its okay to speculate when the anticipation is so high.

I'd be interested to know if there are any feature lists leaks that anyone is aware of. I've heard for new lighting system. I would consider this a huge plus, judging from what's possible in XP11. Otherwise, what do you think could Prepar3D v4 bring? What I'm wishing is :

1) Better shadows, without the annoying flickering.
2) Better in-game anti-aliasing for better performance (avoiding external AA)

Also how much time do you think it will take for the "core" add-ons to be upgraded? There are a lot of them. Aircraft, weather engines, airport sceneries, textures etc..Could it be a matter of 2-3 months or we will wait around a year?

I don't have a clue how a port or rebuilt takes, I'm sure many people have knowledge to give realistic expectations. Again, just your speculations..

I am hoping for VC rain effects standard on all aircraft and better day & night lighting.  Also would be nice to see a new technology for ground textures that look more realistic.

When JV mentioned new lighting for P3Dv4, did he mean atmospheric lighting or Orbx street lighting? To my knowledge, he never clarified his statement. Everyone assumes the former, but, being all to familiar with JV's "style", he is only talking about Orbx products having improved lighting. Gotta increase the profits for his investors somehow!

Dynamic lights that actually shine on the aircraft/surrounding scenery would be enough to convince me to buy v4. It's always so strange sitting on the ramp at night with a brightly lit ramp and flood light spills around you but the aircraft and cockpit are completely shrouded in darkness.

Also, AirDailyX will reportedly be streaming v4 live on twitch tomorrow at 1700z.

No Thank-You! Directx12 means downgrading to win10 from Winner7. That is something many users are not willing to do.

Maybe in 10 years Microscrap will get their crud in order and build an OS that actually does what it is supposed to, without breaking other software.

As always, just my .02c.

I hope they fix the whole lighting..its such a PITA to see the runways lights as 2D textures only and more if they stand 1ft above the runway floating in the air..dont expect such things in year 2017.

Personally I would rather have a root canal than swap my Windows 7 for 10.

"Project P" from ORBX was stated as: "Project P - Our continued commitment to our strongest platform and it has a huge backing. More refinement, more performance, more destinations from Orbx than ever before. An old friend gets better, faster, stronger, bigger. Oh, and it will be 64-bit."

So, I suppose we can assume they know something more to state that.

One of my highest hopes is in updated and updateable navdata and airport data. I am pretty sure I'll not get them though.

Plus better Antialiasing without a major performance hit, as Daedalus states.

Kind regards, Michael

Indeed. I've P3D3 running with quite a number of addons in a networked configuration with SPAD.neXt, FS-FlightControl, AS2016... on a networked machine, both machines under Win 10. No problems at all.

Kind regards, Michael
