X-Plane 11 and 980Ti

Hi.  I'm curious if XP11 will run well on a single 980Ti.  A 3770K @ 4.4GHz. is feeding the GPU.

Oh yes it will Jeff, I have a 980 (non ti) paired with same CPU and could not be happier. Of course a 1080 will put the cherry on the cake, nevertheless, the 980ti will do very well.

Side note: XP11 will not take advantage of SLI.

Thanks very much for the info, Carlos.  I'm glad you mentioned XP11 won't take advantage of SLI because that gives me justification for putting it on the single 980Ti rig.  I was debating whether to put it on my SLI rig, but, for a couple of reasons, it would be more hassle to install on that system.  So this works out perfectly.  Do you know if the 3770K @4.4K will drive a 1080 or 1080Ti (4K monitor) OK or will it be completely CPU bound?  I've read that even if CPU bound the 1080Ti will give better visuals, even if it won't show increase in FPS.

4k will be pushing 3770k to its limits and probably end up being cpu bound, having said that, if you manage to balance rendering settings then it will probably be ok.

Maybe someone with a top iCPU can chime in and give you a more realistic advice.

Thanks.  Actually, I've been using the 3770K with 4K already.  Are you saying the choice of 1080Ti  vs. the current 980Ti would actually aggravate the 4K issue?  Sorry for the confusion on this.  Thanks

Not necessarily, but with a 1080ti  @ at 4k res, your cpu will struggle to keep up and so your system will end up being cpu bound.

Thanks, Carlos.  Maybe I'll just keep the 980Ti on this rig since everything seems to be working fine.  If I get in the mood to spend a few hundred then I MIGHT get a 1080 (Ti) and give it a go and see what happens.  :)

Im planning on moving on into the 4k realm eventually and was wondering how my current system will cope, although I know I will need at least at 1080 with a high-end cpu in order to maintain 30fps with plenty of eye candy.

Will do.  My 6700K @4.6 and 980Ti SLI (4K) seem to do well with P3Dv3.2.
