Just found this thread searching for how to get the A2A birds working with VOXATC in P3Dv4.  Mine are installed via addon.xml and the actual airplanes are in the "my documents\Prepar3d v4 addons" folder.

I manually added the properly numbered window and panel sections to the panel.cfg file of each of the aircraft.  The panel now shows up, though it needs to be selected from the top menu.  When I click the "Enable" button, it processes for a minute or so, then I get a "critical error - shut down VoxATC" message.  Looks like this might not be all that's required to get this going.  Any thoughts?

I have found that error message disappears after a few seconds and everything works again, vox seems to need time to think....except I am still having problems with not being able to contact the tower at the destination...after establishing on ILS the copilot refuses to tune the radio and if I try a flight using voice actuation (and not the auto FO) the radio tuning doesnt work that way either.

I generally know what I am doing with this sort of stuff and I have tried all sorts of variations of set up but the result is the same...it is hard to believe I am the only person to experience this!!

I'm waiting...with a 4 month old a 4 year old and a demanding wife I havent got time to mess around with things!

Congratulations,I guess.

Just to confirm, I switched the RealAir Turbine Duke's installation setup from add-on.xml to the way it was installed in P3d V3 and it works fine with VOXATC 7.4. The location of the aircraft file does not matter as long as it is referenced in SimObjects.cfg correctly. But for the A2A aircraft, I woiuldn't fool around with them as every time you try to do an update of any of those airplanes, the installation might get messed up.

I managed to get this working with the A2A planes.

After manually adding the four new sections to each panel.cfg, I copied the folders from "My Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\A2A\SimObjects\Airplanes" to "\Prepar3D v4\SimObjects\Airplanes" and then ran the VoxATC indexer.  Once the indexer completed, I deleted the A2A planes from the "\Prepar3D v4\SimObjects\Airplanes" folder.  I have only flown VFR, but VoxATC is working very nicely with the A2A PA-28, C172 and C182 using this method.  It should not interfere with any A2A updates (unless the panel.cfg is replaced and the sections will need to be readded).  However, every time you run the VoxATC indexer, the aircraft folders will probably need to be copied to "\Prepar3D v4\SimObjects\Airplanes".

Will try an IFR flight as soon as possible to see if I get a proper handoff...will let you know.

I'm pretty sure that this assumption is correct. The Indexer creates two files. One data file stores the converted traffic BGL information that the Indexer discovers from parsing scenery.cfg. The second file stores specific information about aircraft which have  had the VOXATC gauges added to their panel.cfg file. This is likely to be various performance and other data derived from when the Indexer scans SimObject.cfg looking for aircraft. The latter information is culled from aircraft.cfg and includes the path for the each aircraft folder. My guess is once one runs the Indexer again, the entire VOXATC aircrafttypes.dat file is overwritten.

Again, for the vast majority of VOXATC users, it is probably better to wait for an update.

I had a reply from Tegewyn who said we should expect an update to VOX ATC to support the new Addon.xml installation method within the next week or so. Can't wait! :)

I'm a bit confused regarding UT2 ai aircraft along with VoxATC in p3d v4.  I have the stock UT2 and had been using voxatc with the bridge to bring in all those wonderful UT2 liveries into Voxatc when I was using FSX.  Now what can I do to get those different real-world planes into Vox without a fps hit from older non- v4 compliant aircraft models?  What are my options?  Is it better to wait a while until somethings is better developed for voxatc traffic integration?

Thanks,

John

Your options at present for AI traffic are limited to packages that use BGL traffic files. One is My Traffic 6. The other is to construct your own AI traffic using freeware models, liveries and schedules developed and supported by the Alpha India Group. Both options have been discussed at length on AVSim.

Please check, I purchased this, but it appears to delete all waypioints in all flights when you save a flight! The only way to fix things is a reinstall, I do not know if there is w aworkaround

Not sure what you mean deleting all waypoints.  I've had no such problems with p3d v4 and VoxATC's latest release.  Just some of the same problems that plagued the FSX version such as AI planes getting stuck on taxiways.  I also still have blank screen for "recent Coms" window.  "Save a flight" - in P3d v4?

There has been not much talk on this topic for a while but I thought on sharing my experience with VoxATC 7.41 and P3D v4.2. I encounter what I perceive to be a bug or an error in my part that makes the simulator crawl!!! So I use VoxATC in combination with Traffic 360 Airplane Models and used the schedule created by such program.  Here is the situation. If I use default ATC with a traffic setting of 20% on GA and Airliners I get at least 60 planes being populated...All runs smooth until I open a window to view any of the planes, then the Simulator crawls!! when i close the second window Simulator Goes back to smooth!!! Now if I use Vox ATC when I populate AI with even 5% (that is about 10 Aircraft on busy airport) the Simulator crawls only when I use VoxATC with 0% is that I can use the program without frame rate loss. Some one said that traffic 360 models are not compatible with P3Dv4. I still have to determine if the default AI models dampen performance. Any Thoughts apreciated.

I believe you're supposed to set both GA and commercial traffic to 0% in the sim, then in VoxATC settings, set the traffic percentage there to whatever you like.  I find 50-60% works well.  I think you can not have both active.  Keep in mind, the AI that is created by the sim is not controlled by VoxATC.

@Gridley Thanks for your response although I don’t think I was clear enough!! I do know that VoxATC is to be used with 0% Traffic from the simulator. I was making a comparison in performance from when I use the Sim AI and when I use VoxATC AI. The issue is that I can have 100 AI from the Sim Traffic without any issue but when I use VoxATC 5 aircraft is enough to bring my frame rate from 40 to even 10 FPS. I think it has to do with simconnect but it could be me doing something wrong. I’m using VoxATC 7.41 with P3D v4.2 Thanks!!!

Otniel,

If you provide some more information about your setup, maybe someone can help you. I can tell you that on my computer, VOXATC 7.41 is substantially more performance friendly than the default P3d 4.2 AI . And it should be, considering that it doesn't really try to keep track of every AI flight in every traffic BGL file. It creates its own database from those traffic BGL files and it manages AI traffic just around the user's aircraft. Traffic 360 is very old add-on and it is not designed for use in P3d4. It might work, but it also might create issues. The fact that you experience serious performance loss with the default AI when opening a second window indicates that something needs fixing on your end. What OS are you using? Is this the licensed version of VOXATC 7.41? Have you disabled the default sim traffic BGL file? Are any of the Traffic 360 models designed for FS9? Does this happen at all airports including stock airports? Have you tried VOXATC with one of the sample flight plans that are included with it? What voices are you using? Have you tried to test VOXATC in First Officer mode?

Thanks Jay!!! I know is to many variables!!! Traffic 360 could very well be a huge part of the problem. I don’t know what models it has or what version it belongs to. But I think is time to put my troubleshooting hat and remove all Addons run Vox ATC in a clean P3D install if it runs good then keep adding addons unti I find the one!!! I should have done this before I posted here!! Sorry I was kind of lazy to uninstall P3D but is something I must do!!! Thanks I’ll keep posted of development

To answer your questions I’m running Windows 7 with the registered version of vox. Also I deactivated the traffic Bgl that comes with the sim and change it for the one created by Traffic 360 since it has more flight schedules! I regard Vox ATC as one of my Must have addons so I have to get it working before I can add anything else!!

I'm using MyTraffic6.0a models and have removed the incompatible ones.  I seem to have better performance with VoxATC AI than a similar number of planes using compiled flight plans and bgls.

I don’t know how to recognize what are the compatible models from the non compatibles I need to do some reading on that or just get Vox ATC to work and wait for a AI model package designated for P3Dv4!!!

For MyTraffic6.0a there was a really nice list folks compiled of what to remove, not sure if that exists for traffic360...

Ok so I’m not really sure what happened but Upon uninstalling P3Dv4.2 and reinstalling I could not replicate my issue any longer!! Perhaps it was a corrupted install. Any how I’m back to put simobjects into the simulator I haven’t installed FSUIPC or Real Time FS yet so let’s see how that goes!!! I don’t think I need Real Time FS any longer since From 4.2 LM claims to have fixed the time zones. Thanks every one!!!
