I will check it when I find my XP11 key, somewhere ... in the deepest repositories of my external disks...

Have to give it a good try, although this month all money is invested in RW flying - the Soaring Season is starting here in Portugal :-)

Does it really show the correct Moon phase and daylight for a given date ?

For instance, checking the astronomical ephmeris and Moon rise / set / phase times, as well as daylight times for the region you live in, is XP11 + SPMV4.5 now in full agreement ?

Show me pictures Squash ! :-)

I'll try, but since X-Plane doesn't have the option to set the year, I don't see how it could, unless it grabs the date from the OS.

Yes, I totally forgot about that - must be relative to a fixed year then :-/

Unless SMPv4.5 is wise enough to take the year from the OS ?

@jcomm

Using Stellarium and https://www.calendar-12.com/moon_calendar/2017/march to compare:

Here's the 5th March 2017

1.thumb.jpg.758eb60e0682345dcc4904217ab01d14.jpg

Now the 12th March

2.thumb.jpg.73f96bbca9d82d88d7fc762bfa9e5831.jpg

The phases aren't correct, and checking Stellarium, neither is its position in the sky. I presume it's locked to a specific year and I remember the SMP devs mentioning that they have asked LR to add in the year for this to work.

Yes it looks pretty  good. I'm happy that I didn't spend $70 US on the alternative. The 4.5 version  pairs nicely with FSGRW, which does an admirable job of weather injection.

Hi Jay

I have recently started using Xplane in parallel to P3D. IMO Xplane desperately needs a better weather solution to the standard LR offering. I have been on the fence regarding SMP or xEnviro. In P3D I am using AS16 + ASCA.

May I ask your opinion on the following:------

In comparison to Active Sky products how would you rate the SMP 4.5 & FSGRW combination in regards to smoothing out the weather changes (clouds, winds, temp & pressure). I am expecting something different visually but would like to think abrupt weather changes were not as issue.

Thanks - Michael

I've merged the 3 separate threads on SMP v4.5 together. It's easier to keep track of one thread
