Prepar3D v4 vs v3 FPS comparison

Recommended Posts

A 10 to 15 fps increase is, in my opinion, a big difference when you're in a dense area such as London. It could mean the difference between flying or watching a powerpoint slide show.

I have high hopes in v4 in terms of fluidity of the simulator, more than fps increase per se. Not to mention bye-bye to OOMs.

cheers

The best way to express a comparison is by percentage change, not by a '10-15 fps' numeric range.  Plus, there two scenarios are not absolutely, which is absolutely required for any comparison to be valid.

Interesting comparison.  Of concern is when he's looking at the terminal. It's actually LESS FPS. Ok, only 1, but even he said the airport isn't finished. So when it is...maybe less again.

No AI traffic in shot, so half the FPS if you add a decent amount in. Wx programs etc will take off some as well.

And add in a high quality payware aircraft - PMDG - and you'd be lucky to get 15 FPS.

I am hoping after tomorrow launch folks will start reporting real data.  So far the response from actual beta testers on my other thread asking about performance has been muted.  JV from ORBX has stated that P3Dv4 is good in performance but I take that as a grain of salt as he believes also that there is no performance issue with ORBX stuffs.

From what I've read, AI should not affect FPS as much.  I don't worry about FPS as much as I do smoothness.  Meaning stutters.
