Highly unlikely that Boeing will do that. They just got another 60 plane order from China for the 787. I really don't see Boeing doing anything against the A380 other than maybe doing the 744 Adv but I would say that is 50-50. There 787 IMO will dominate that size market as the A350 will be two years behind in development but then again, airlines like Lufthansa don't seem to buy anything but Airbus.
