P3D V4 and V3 install

Recommended Posts

Just about to get my subscription to v4 and had a few questions for those that have already done it.......

1)I certainly want (initially at least) to keep my v3 installed alongside my v4 (I install my v3 currently to my C: drive although think I will need to install my v4 to my M drive for space reasons) - what is best way to install v4 - will I be forced to install it to the same drive as my v4 or does it not matter?also assume to keep both v3 and v4 (for the moment) would need to purchase x2 licences? - so will download and install the full v4 version?

2)In terms of installing add ons - such as the realair stuff has anyone managed to do it yet? (seems there is an add on feature/configurator in the sim that might you do it?)

3)Still a bit confused about how my orbx scenery will transfer over - seems once I install by v4 I then need to update my FTX 3 to the latest version this then lets me install my scenery into 4 automatically I assume? but will my v3 still be supported or will it lose all its orbx scenery?

4)WIll v4 get native VR support (rather than flyinside)?

Any other tips about maintaining v3 and v4 together are appreciated.....

Keep V3 around for a bit your ORBX FTX central will copy most of what it needs from V3 and save a lot of downloading  -When that update is available that is. Mostly you will get region's first then individual airports at a later time, so don't jump the gun like a lot of others are kicking themselves for doing with a format or wipe out the other version.

There Is no problem with co-existence like FSX both can exist happily together.

slayer many thanks for the reply......

so there should be no issue if I installed the v4 onto my M drive and left the v3 on my C?(both version don't need to be in the same folder)

In terms of the orbx scenery (and a have lots of it) when the FTX is upgraded obviously it wants to install the v4 compatible with my new version but would I eventually lose the Orbx scenery on my v3 as all the scenery is upgraded into v4?

Ftx central is smart enough to figure it out no need for same folder etc it just copies what it needs from the other install.
