Links all point to MSN?

Hi Maarten,

I have just reinstalled the latest SLX, and I notice that when I click on the Google Maps/Satelitte, it takes me to the MSN Home page. Is there somewhere this can be changed?

I never use IE and Firefox home page defaults to google search

I also discovered the little blue man is the user aircraft....but hes usually upside down. Can we have an aircraft icon for the user aircraft, or can this be setup somewhere?

Hi Chris,

You are right. Something is broken: the first time the browser opens, it does not add a new tab for the button you clicked on. If you click the button again, a new browser tab is indeed created. I will fix this issue asap.

The browser is based on the IE engine. Unfortunately, a free 64-bit capable Chrome, Firefox or Edge browser component for WPF, the .NET technology that SLX is based on, does not exist. Whatever you have set your IE home page to, is shown when the browser first opens. To set the home page for IE, type 'internet options' in the Windows search bar and a dialog opens where you can set your home page.

Thanks Maarten/mawibo. I was hoping the user aircraft would have appeared on Google earth as the program I used to use (FS Earth-X) doesn't seem to work in P3D. I have tried using GE View, but I cant seem to find a way to get the "Top Down" view, as presented when you connect to GE thru SLX

I am not sure if I understand the function of the "Map" view. I am under the impression that when no flight plan is loaded, and you select a random airport and go to it, the map in SLX will follow it? Clicking on Centre on flight or flight aircraft doesn't seem to move the map to where you are. My map view just seems to stay in the same position. Maybe I understand wrong, hehe.

Found out the follow button, so now can follow my own aircraft :-) Need glasses, I think, LoL. Would be great if you could get your own flying aircraft (and ai) onto the Google Earth Map in browser window, ala FS Earth. Will there be an option to change the user aircraft from a person (being PC) to an aircraft icon?

Hi Chris,

Can you explain why you would like to see the user aircraft on a Google map when you already have a moving map within SimLauncherX? Is it the satellite map? If so, you can enable a Mapbox satellite map by entering a Mapbox ID in the global settings. This will also enable address search in the search box on the Map|Navigation ribbon tab.

This waliking person icon is related to the 'fleet' feature: open the changelog from the Home tab and scroll down for an explanation. It works just about the same as Lorby's WAMA. If the fleet feature is enabled in the Global settings, one of your aircraft variations is selected as 'walk around' variation. If you are using P3D, it will be the avatar, otherwise I look for ORBXs 'BOB' or Lorby's camera pod. If these are not found, the very first aircraft variation is selected as walk around variation. You can manually select another variation as walk around variation: right click on this aircraft variation in the Aircraft window and select 'set as walk around variation'. If you do not use this feature, just disable it in the Global settings.

I guess I prefer the look of google earth. Not sure if I have the satelite map or bot, but it dosnt look like google earth. The one I am using is just the one that came with the program. Ill see if there is an option to choose another one. I dont have a mapbox ID, so cant use that.

Hi Chris,

  1. The issue with the changelog is fixed now.
  2. A Mapbox access token is free: first create a Mapbox account here and then create an access token here.
  3. Unfortunately Google or Bing map tiles cannot be downloaded free of charge and that's why I choose to offer the Mapbox option
