Damn Orbx...why do you have to own the sim completely.  It is just that when new updates come, things break and I have to waste my time reinstalling tons of orbx sceneries.  Even A2A, FSDT are installing outside and following new guidelines.  Bloody Hell...time waste

I don't get why they won't follow the recommended add on procedure from LM.  They are one of LM's "featured developers" so they certainly know about this.

Agreed...but I'd just as soon not have vast amounts of ORBX scenery installed to my Documents folder!

It is very easy to move My document folder and even can symlink a directory in it (so it appears it is in there but not really).  Only LM can force developers to follow

It is easy to move Documents.  It's also a glorious pain-in-the-butt.  For one thing, it means you have all your critical documents on your sim drive.  Second, it means you have to make sure your backup program is set up so a "system backup" covers both your C: drive and your documents folder located elsewhere.  Then, if you ever have to use it to repair a system crash, you have to make sure you have a drive assigned to the same letter as your erstwhile sim drive when doing a restore...and, even then, odds are something will get screwed up in the permissions for the resulting folder that will lie hidden until you suddenly need a specific file there and can't access it.  I once tried a system with a tiny SSD C: drive and the Documents folders on a different drive...never again!

That's why I just moved the Prepar3d v4 Addons directory to my sim drive, and linked it into My Documents.  Works like a champ.

Good to know.  Maybe you should write up a small tutorial for the forum's benefit?
