Similar here. But with a different sequence. Started with 747-400 variant, black screen, changed to mooney, changed back to 747-400 and it works...

BUT it works only with the PMDG Livery of the 747-400 (the first one of the list to make it clear)

I had the very same issue last night. I gave up and went to bed. This morning I woke up and followed a few steps that I found and pieced together from the web.

1) uninstall QOSII v4
2) download and instal Prep3D v4 SDK fround at www.prepar3d.com
3) install QOSII v4 ONLY. I didn't install v3

That seemed to fix my problem.

I just tried to load the freighter and no luck, back to the same issue. The pax version works fine though

Here's is my work around that's worked every time for me.

1) Load default aircraft
2) change to 747-400 passanger
3) load default plane
4) all variants now work

Do you have FSUIPC5 installed ? I just found out that for me that is causing the problem. As soon as I remove the dll everything works normal.

Yes I can confirm that this is the case.

I have removed the FSUIPC module and the 747 works fine. However, my controls are all configured through FSUIPC so this is not a fix in my case.

I removed FSUIPC as well and it works fine

Same, so clearly an FSUIPC 5 related issue
