P3D v4 is simply amazing!

Recommended Posts

Ever since the announcement of P3D v4 64bit and it finally arriving, now actually using it with all these add-ons that are being updated for it has really rekindle my love for flight simming all over again. I knew that P3D was the right sim for my needs. I keep doubting myself saying that I am going to switch over to X-Plane because I got so fed up with the OOM and constant tweaking and tinkering with config files and what not. I tried to force myself to like X-Plane, but in the end I figured that I was lying to myself when all this time my true feelings had always been there for P3D. Right now I am currently flying A2A's 172 with FTX Global, Active Sky P3D 4, ASCA, ChasePlane, and the overall experience is just breathtaking. Something that I never felt in X-Plane before. Now just waiting for the rest of the add-ons to slowly come forth, to make that experience even better.

I am experiencing better performance, visuals, and looking forward to what LM brings to the platform in future point releases.

Seems like it's gotten an awfully cold reception by the greater community (not just here at AVSIM). Odd considering that 64-bit is all we've been clamoring about for so long...

Lucky to hear you got it working as expected! Mine is still waiting for FSLAbs A320X and PMDG 737 so I haven't touch it that much, just install bunch of sceneries and airports, look around little bit. I have PMDG 747 but not in the mood of flying any long haul now.

Hello, I'm certainly wanting to avoid any flight sim battles, I'm just curious as to why you enjoy P3D so much over XP. I run both and enjoy their differences.

I just did a PMDG 747 flight from flightbeam KPHX to FSDT's KLAX ... What a joy... No  fear of OOMs. The last time I remember such a flight was in FS9.

few small things we need to figure....

1)  F1 UT Live. Need traffic. (I made UT2 work but its an FPS hog with V4. Unusable  ..except maybe remote areas

2) Microstutters.. Need to figure out the best tweak to get rid of this

3) I want my EZDOK. I like the exaggerated sway that I could set it up..the motion from the VC.

4) Polypot and GF with their drivers.

I'm really enjoying v.4 now that I have Orbx, FSUIPC5 and the RealAir Turbine Duke installed.  Starting to get some worth while addons put into it.  It's coming together.

P3Dv4 is definitely the best performing FSX graphics engine that I've ever run.

Can you point me to evidence of that? I don't really see any kind of "cold" reception to P3D v4 on AVSIM, so I am curious to know why you think that.

I love that switching to tower view and back doesn't see you flying through a blurry mess for the next few seconds as it reloads the high lod terrain!

Ohhhhh man, I added the two tweak (TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP and LOD_RADIUS) and I am sitting at the FB KSFO gate in the PMDG 747 with 9 GB Vram used and 8 GB memory used - everything smooth, great frames rates....

v4 is the best thing that happend to me in Flightsim for a long long time.

You're referring to flight Sim World I think not P3D v4.
