Taxi2Gate sceneries v4 compatible?

Recommended Posts

I decided to take the VHHH Terrain folder out, it's very ugly, and I prefer the default FTX Global textures instead. Hope to see FTX openLC Asia soon. I need that badly.

Hi guys

I started this thread but I'm a newcomer to P3D coming over from FSX.  I've been running the taxi2gate installers and manually adding folders through the scenery library.  I didn't backup my scenery.cfg before I started the hatchet job, reading some of the replies in this thread when LM update P3D is the scenery.cfg overwritten with a default copy meaning you have to reinstall sceneries each time?

Thanks
Sid

With the current roadmap you won't. Not until next year.

I tried to install T2G KSEA by pointing the installer to P3Dv4.  All went well with that and I added the Terrain and KSEA entries to my addon scenery within the P3D menu as I did with V3..  When I hit OK, the progress bar got stuck at 'Loading Terrain 16%'.  I let it sit for 5 minutes and finally had to ctrl-alt-del out of the sim.  Anyone else experience this??  I'm hesitant to try anything else via this method.

Yea this happened to me - I think I added the Terrain folder incorrectly, it might need to be the next folder up.  Not at my PC at the moment but will check later and confirm the folders you need to add.

Mine works fine... but I've only tried KSEA so far...

I sure hope not given that many payware developers are still writing to the scenery.cfg (orbx, fly Tampa, more)

I tryed T2T - EDDM

Manualy added the folders (EDDM, Terrain, etc.) into scenery.cfg and copied the effects and texture files intp P3Dv4 folders)
It works, but...

The apron light effects are upsidedown. Light starts in the middle of the lantern and pointed up in the sky.

The roads "the German Autobahn" which normaly unterpass the taxiways are now flat.

Everything else looks good so far.

Did that 2 things work on your machines?

TFFR seems to work well. I didn't try the jetways. I have the P3Dv3 version, which has the lights fixed.

For those copying folders over, exactly where would you copy them to?  There's no 'Addon Scenery' folder in P3Dv4 to install to.

On your desktop, if you want to.  You can have the scenery folders anywhere you want.

You can also create an Addon Folder within the Prepar3d v4 root directory and place scenery files there. It would be better in the long term though if you try and adhere to the LM SDK requisite, which will eventually be the 'developer standard'. I'm still struggling with this add-on.xml creation and placement, but it's the way of the future and I can see the logic behind it.

Nvm, I needed to ensure that when adding the scenery in the scenery library, that I ensured both KSEA and KSEA TERRAIN were pointed to

All my T2G sceneries work as expected in v4; however, I set up the add-on.xml file myself after letting the installer write the files to my addon data area.  The relationship between the airport scenery and terrain or landclass sceneries has to be observed.  Also, there are a few things to do if you are using FTX Orbx PNW region.  I am not using scenery.cfg for add sceneries.

For the interested, here is my T2G add-on.xml.  The path refers to my data area D:\Addon where all my sceneries are located:

Wow this sounds complicated for us non techie types.  Hopefully the "Poppet" version of how to do this will come out soon.
