Rex Weather/Texture Product Confusion for V4

Recommended Posts

I was using the Rex products below (along with Worldwide Airports and Latitude), switched to XP11 and uninstalled everything.  Now, I'm back with v4 and want to get set up again.  But, looking at the Rex site, the forums and the new products in development, I'm quite confused.  I see Weather Force and Sky Force are coming soon (although that appears to be a relative term).  Does anyone know what would be the best plan going forward to approximate what I was using below in v3?

Hi Rick

I think you can use REX4 TD and Soft clouds for V4. It requires a hot fix to work.

Cheers,

Gordon

I think that is the case Gordon.  But, then they are talking about a new weather program that is supposed to affect clouds as well.  Thanks!

They are currently working on a number of Hotfixes which will be released "shortly", texture direct and soft clouds are among them. No timeline from them really though.

Hopefully soon :)

Dont get fooled by them, they just want to charge money that people buy new weather programs. All textures in REX Texture Direct like clouds, water, runways, bumpmap, lights, everything works fine. Just point under settings the v3 dictonary to v4... Tested by myself all works fine.

And if the questions comes to dynamic lightning. It never will be dynamic lighting on runways since LM limited dynamic lights to 256 when I remember correct. So no way that runway lightning goes dynamic. BTW the dynamic lights engine is badly coded. Even if you just have your taxilight and landing lights dynamic at the plane you get already -20 % less fps...
