I uninstalled and Reinstalled FS9 and same problem

Is it just me, or are we seeing a very large number of people lately that have a problem with FS9, and it seems like one of their first attempts at solving the problem is to uninstall and reinstall FS9. I also see, as one would suspect, that most times this does nothing to fix the problem. What a hassle to go though that for nothing. I would try almost everything else first before I would even consider the idea of an uninstall of FS9.

I am amazed at the number of folks who don't know that they do not have to "delete or rename the FS9.cfg file" at all.Simply HOLD Ctrl-Shift while starting FS9 to force a rebuild of the FS9.cfg file! ;)

Hi Bill,Is the old fs9.cfg over-written or renamed? Every time I see FS9 looking great I archive the .cfg file with a date or some decsriptive name that I can refer to later- and of course I back it up after the first install.Bruce.

It just overwrites the old one. No backup. - Doug

So one can just save a copy then do the force build thing. If you don't like what comes out, rename the old one back...Dave

You can use the command line switch: "(path)FS9.exe" "/CFG: (pathfilename)"To start with a different cfg file. You can create many shortcuts with different cfg files if desired. Or, use FSAutostart whcih allows you to specify a cfg file.there is also a troubleshooting program folder created, with shortcuts for "reset defaults" -RESETINI and "safe mode" -SWREND command switches which might be worth trying before taking drastic action.scott s..
