Hi guys,

Like every product, PTA is not exempt from the scum of the world trying to "crack" it.

I'm seeing a lot of posts on this forum requesting help, stating the product is "broken", when in fact it's because they have a pirated copy.

We have a pretty unique way of preventing piracy - I think the pirates are finally figuring that out. I didn't mess around on the way the DRM works with PTA & I am absolutely thrilled with the outcome.

There is one absolute way to tell if the person in question has a pirated copy, and it's anything that gives this error:

Problem with patch #0 - Null original block.

I'd appreciate it if you just either ignored these users who are requesting help, or report them - either way, I don't mind :)

People like this aren't just doing harm to myself, but they're cheating every single one of you who have spent their hard earned money on this product.

They're thieves.

Thanks for your continued support.

Matt.

Although we will be watching too, please DO report any individual suggesting piracy or using a pirated copy. We really do not want them on Avsim.

There was one developer years ago that deleted all his programs files when detecting a pirated version. He paid out lots of $$$ when he was sued.

Not a good idea but very easy to do.

Didnt orbx apparently do something similar and mess with the registry of machines running pirated copies?

Hinted at but don't recall that there was ever any proof. Don't recall the name of the vendor I was referring to but I remember he actually had a message pop up calling the user a pirate, etc etc etc.

Dumb

As much as I'd love to implement all of the suggestions above (and it's extremely easy), it's not a good idea :D
