The 390 Premier 1A documentation?

If the FMA indications don't work correctly....Carenado needs to address this because it is confusing to those who know how it should work. I don't think its fair that the community has to fix it all the time. That being said....hopefully some upgrades can be done similar to the CJ2.

I've also pointed out in the past that the direct to feature needs to be updated because it makes the aircraft intercept a direct course relative to the previous waypoint and not to the aircraft itself.

Thankfully the newer Proline products are not as bad as the Hawker which to this day (some 2 yrs later) still can't capture an altitude...

I want to write the review based on the vanilla version but soon thereafter will see if we can team up with Bert , Janek, and Ramon to add the GTN to the panel and tweak whatever is still left undone if anything.  The documentation is finally getting better and the final rollout checks seems to be catching more of the little stuff like misspelled labels and backward switch throws, etc.

Do you know if this is a new crew for Carenado?

Not sure if the crew is new but they seem to be paying more and more attention the customers.

 

By the way, it would be nice if some of the Proline updates (the basic updates minus the GTN mod) could be brought over to the C90 GTX and perhaps even the Hawker 850XP.

I have 6 years experience on the Premiere 1A as a mechanic and avionics tech, so I know the aircraft and systems well.

I am tempted to buy this, but... It's Carenado. I purchased their 800XP Hawker with its so-called Proline 21 cockpit a couple of years ago. The aircraft was gorgeous visually, and did hand-fly quite nicely, but the systems, displays and autopilot were so badly done that it completely killed the immersion. I don't expect perfect r/w accuracy in a mid-priced add-on, but the Hawker was so bad, in so many ways, that I'm reluctant to waste money again with Carenado.

I'm curious if they have implemented the roll spoiler computer and lift dump self-tests that have to be performed before each flight. I ask, because one of the inflight cockpit pics on the Carenado product page for this aircraft showed both left and right roll spoiler "fail" annunciators lit.

In a nutshell, after engine start, once hydraulics are online, the pilot has to turn and hold the yoke fully left, which initiates the L/H roll spoiler actuator test. When the L/H spoiler fail annunciator goes out, the pilot then holds the yoke full right until the R/H fail annunciator shuts off . He then neutralizes the yoke, and deploys and then retracts the lift dump (both roll spoilers extend together). This shuts off the lift dump fail annunciator. Only after these tests are complete can the aircraft fly.

I'd be glad to answer any technical questions about the aircraft - however,  l no longer have access to the tech manuals, as the aircraft was sold.

Jim, I will wring this one out and run those tests. I have the FSI systems manual and training manual so I should be able to check it properly.  You can see the flaperons working in turns and that looks good.

I went looking for some closeups of the fake windows and found a few that have added them both fore and aft on both sides.  5 total real + fakes per side.  Left side have one on the cabin door plus the aft one.

Is there a Gross Weight readout someplace in the rw version.  I was looking for it to check the FF and speed at attitude but had to use the FSX dropdown Fuel and Payload to get it.  FF and speed are spot on at FL330, only place I checked.

GW should be available after entering the number of passengers and fuel load in the FMS PERF page - (if that is modeled).

The aircraft will cruise quite happily at Mach 0.80, and for trips of any distance it typically cruises between FL390 and FL410, which is its rated ceiling.

Probably 90 percent of the time, the aircraft departs with full fuel. At best, its range is only  around 1200 NM - maybe a bit more with a good tailwind.

I'm all about fixing any issues with the aircraft but can we hold off putting the gtn in it?  I know everyone wants to get their money's worth with the gtn but it doesn't seem to be a proper fit for this aircraft.....just my two cents

Jaybird2159,

The GTN should fit in the Premier panel almost exactly like is does in the CJ2 Panel.  Same 3 PC-21 panels in both planes.  We might have to dig a little for a place to relocate the engine gauges but that shouldn't be a problem (might use the CDU or FMS screen).  Otherwise the code is probably already 90% written.  the CJ2 code can from the Hawker H850.

I think the screen minus the bezel is, especially if it'll fit without looking distorted.  The real Proline has a moving map/safe taxi feature that can also display charts.  Of course Carenado did not model this with any of theirs.  The GTN adds these and a few other features like WAAS and LPV approach capabilities which really allows you to use the planes to greater capabilities!  It does take away from the whole using the FMS part though......not that the carenado FMS are that great to begin with LOL

OH please don't move the engine gauges to the CDU screens, PLEASE.   Hopefully someone can find a way to add the GTN and just keep the engine info where its at.  I actually was not a fan of where it got moved in the CJ personally.

Ray, the Cheyenne II has this crew, which I think was their first aircraft with this new crew, now their going for their type rating in the Premiere 1A....

Hello Martin,

Excellent info.  Thanks.  This P1A is my first Carenado since the, heck I can't remember when, maybe the Aero Commander.  I was so very tired of the look of the old crew.  I will have to see how easy I can trade out the old crew with the new.  S/B fairly straight forward.

Take it easy, that was just a flash idea.  I have never thought anyone with a GTN750 would have a need for the limited FMS anyway.  We used the screen for data, like checklists and performance tables for the CJ2 and that worked out great for me.

The guy in the left seat looks a bit like  Greg Mink  (premier 1 driver on youtube)
