Should I even bother?

With the system I have should I even bother buying P3D V4? Any advice welcome.Thank you

Have you been running P3D v3 ? If so, what have your results been ?  If you haven't run Prepa3D yet, you may want to wait until you've upgraded the CPU and GPU.

You'll definitely want a video card upgrade, and possibly a RAM upgrade (try it with your 8 GB first, but you would benefit from more and faster RAM), but sure.  And overclock that 2600K if you aren't... that's the whole purpose behind the 2600K.

I use a 2600K at 4.2 GHz, 16 GB of 1333 MHz CAS 8 DDR3, with a 6 GB GTX 1060 and v4 runs well with sliders a little to the right of center.

LM offers a no-questions-asked 60 day refund period, so you've really got nothing to lose but time by testing it out on your system.

What success have you had with previous platforms and with what add-ons? 

Or is this your first flight sim?

I don't think you'll be able to do it. Too little RAM. Too slow CPU. very weak GPU. IMHO, at best you'd have a slide show without any add ons. You are right at or a little below the minimum recommended

I'd wait until you can upgrade your system.

Refund policy sounds good must give it a try so..Have never overclocked,will try that also..Thanks

Have been running FSX( with lots of add ons) for years and  it runs very well indeed.Just like the look of P3d v4 !

1G memory on the video card is the big killer. If you could just upgrade that to a 2G card you'd be at the minimum and could get by for now.

That and overclock that 2600.

I would leave it. At the moment v4 appears to be the same as v3 if you don't have OOMs in v3. Yes the autogen goes out a bit further but the only other feature is dynamic lighting which cuts your FPS in half.

I would stick with what you have for another 2 years and then upgrade for v5.

System ram is fine but that video card will be a little rough.  I've got a 2500K at 4GHz 8GB ram gtx 970 and I can do ok about middle to high sliders.  But my gtx 970 has 4GB video ram (sort of hehe)

update that gpu and you'd be ok

Each person is entitled to their own opinion, of course, but V4 is certainly NOT the same as V3 on my system. I thought v3 was excellent but the visuals in v4 have v3 beat hands down. I do have a strong system so I expect I can see more bells and whistles but even then V4 just looks brighter and sharper.

My PC is hmm about 3 maybe 4 years old. I run Prepar3d V4 as smooth as silk. Granted I don't have all the sliders up to full, but then with the quality of the visuals I get with the default sim settings, why would I need to change them. I have ORBX england installed and my PC sits at around 60-80 FPS. I get the occassional microstutter. I don't obsess about microstutters others might. I have never felt the urge to push P3D to the limit and as a result I have never had any VAS issues and In v2.3 I ran the PMDG 777 and had a couple of the UK2000 sceneries installed.

It is I suppose subjective as to how good the sim is with the specs we all have. No doubt someone with a killer machine will have 4k graphics and all the bells and whistles, but I don't need that to have an immersive experience. I care about the flight being reasonably smooth and giving me real world conditions using active sky.

I have far better performance in P3D (all V2.3 and V4) than I ever have in FSX.

Well I came from FSX and have a 6-7 yr old PC and P4 runs MUCH smoother than FSX did for me. I installed expecting just to preview it as such without actually using it, but what I found surprised me.. that it outperforms FSX by a noticeable margin at higher settings than I used in FSX.

My spec is: i7 930 2.4ghz, 6GB RAM and Geforce GTX 750Ti with 4 SSD drives.

My expectation for your PC would be that it will run P3D v4 at LEAST as well as you currently run FSX, but the odds are it will be better. Your graphics card will definitely let you down a bit though, so that would be a good candidate to replace first.
