Ground friction is too big?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I installed the latest update of the 777 in both P3D v3 and v4. I notice that compared to previous versions, taxing requires more thrust. For example, with 210 tons of gross weight, sea level, clear sky setting, I normally used 23% N1, but now same configuration I need to use 25%.  Is it more realistic to have such greater ground friction? P.S. I haven't used any outside applications to modify the ground friction.

Did anyone also notice this change?

Kevin

No change, I use between 23-25 depending on weight. I try to keep it around 18-20 kts unless I'm going cross country to PHNL 08R then I'll let it gain up to 25 kts.

..same here .. it seems that this "greater friction" is also resposabile of brakes blowing during landing !!

Hi,

Regarding the brakes blowing at landing, some people fixed it by recalibrating there hardware (have a look in the other threads).
Ground friction felt too high could also comes from the same problem.

I think they are two different issues, as most of those reporting brakes overheating with blown tires are seeing a definite "parking brakes" message appearing at touchdown. Excessive ground friction wouldn't cause that.

I have flown a couple of flights in the 777-200. I haven't had the parking brakes message, or had any problems with overheating wheels, but it does seem like the ground friction is excessive while taxiing.

As commented here

I can only confirm above findings. It did change and t7 is now glued to runway.

If I'm not mistaken, PMDG uses the parking brake mecanism to simulate the immobilization of the aircraft with blown tyres. And the tyre blows because the fuse plugs let the pressure of the tyres when the brake temp is too high to prevent the explosion of the tyres.

So it may be the same issue anyway.
