The function of 2 Scenery Config entry meanings?

Recommended Posts

Hi Simmers,

Can someone point me to where I might gain a full explanation and understanding of the last two entries in each scenery area in the scenery.cfg file?

I see Active= and the Required= entries in every entry yet the true / false component seems to hold no logic with the area I am flying. I Fly almost totally over east coast Oz and yet my cfg file has entries for places like Berlin that are True for both entries whilst the are I fly over shows Required=False. I am no IT whizz and that is aptly confirmed I guess by my question.

Appreciate any help.

Active - if it is TRUE, that scenery is active, you can disable it by uncheck it in scenery library settings page or set it to FALSE in cfg, you do not need to remove entry from scenery library.

Required - false, when scenery is faulty/not found, there is no problem, simulator loads up. If reuired = true and scenery is not find, then sim wont load.

Thanks for that explanation, so Required= actually is not telling that piece of software to turn on/off based on location, something else does that. Required= True means that bit of software is mandatory for the sim to proceed. Active=True turns that scenery file on based on a signal from another component of the software that tells the scenery where your aircraft is located on the map. Sorry for saying it another way but want to make sure the old grey cells have caught your meaning.

Cheers
