What will increase my FPS??

Recommended Posts

Guest dpc

Alex,Typically increase in FPS is done with increase in hardware specs unless you have serious system configuration issue. You would probably get better advise if you post your current system specs. Hard to hypothesize on the total unknown.Dave

I'd start with the MSFS Tip and Tweaks subforum here. The follow the rabbit trail on its *long* and windy trail. There's a guy that does an over-the-phone optimization consult for FS that some folks have used and liked...can't remember the name, and since I haven't used him I can't personally recommend that.Bottom line, though, is there's no short answer to your question. You are beginning a journey...CheersBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de Chile

NO ADDONS!!seriously from your other thread about must haves, many of those are high end addons and will affect performance. There are some tweaks you can apply if you haven't, check the top of this forum for the tips and tweaks. Otherwise, lower your sliders, upgrade the hardware or use just the default.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International

The man you are probably talking about is : Michael Greenblatt. I have used him TWICE ( two differnat computers). Both "tweeks" lasted almost 4 HOURS !!!!!! No wonder I couldn't remember what he did on the 1st one. Last January I had just purchased the top of the line ABS computer, but was disappointed in the differance between it and my two year old Falcon Northwest Computer. After his services @ $100 u.s., I HAD A FLIGHT COMPUTER THAT I HAD ONLY DREAMED OF. I hope he lives for a long, long time as I plan to use his with every new computer. Best money ever spent on my Flight Sim System. You can reach him at: ramsa329@msn.com (email), 1-562-420-1025 U.S. phone jerrycwo4

Hi,after trying out a lot of things here are some tips which have worked for me:- changing the latencies, especially for graphics card. I used this programme:http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=951and changed my latency to 64. Also removed stutters.- I used the Riva tuner to reduce MIP LOD to -1. This was a tip from a forum which I don't recall but it was great: FS) runs much faster and the textures are less blurred(!!!). This was the tweak which had the most effect for me!- I have the distinct feeling that there is a framerate setting effect not only on speed but on stuttering and also blurring. Not having an optimal setting seems to effect all of these negatively: when I change the frame rate setting away from my optimum of 36, I notice that the textures are not as crisp, blurring in the distance increases even with high mip settings and you get that horrible popup effect! The best way to test frame rates is not to have any weather at all; weather is a real frame rate chewer and the clouds at your position will always be different if textures are reloaded:)Sascha

Unfortunatly, a new faster computer is the only solution. I am in the same situation that you are. I have tried a few of the tweaks mentioned by some of the previous posters without any noticeable difference. Let's face it, other than dialing the display settings to the left you won't see much difference although for me this option is the worst because I like a little eye candy. I know it may sound harsh suggesting spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars on a new PC but it's the sad truth. Trust me I have faced it and I am saving my pennies. Hope this helps...My current setupP4 2.66GHz (Northwood Core)768 RAM PC 2700nVidia GeForce 5900 (Non-Ultra)My current addon'sActiveSky6FSBuild 2Level-D 767PMDG 737-6/7/8/900FS2Crew for the PMDG <==not doing so well with this and VATSIM...need practiceI also fly online with VATSIM with SB3

i reduced my screen res down to 600x800. i don't have to but wanted to increase the cloud coverage and bump the display settings up along with using the VC. it makes a difference for sure but most people probably don't care about reducing the resolution down that low. am experimenting for now with it. otherwise new hardware would be in order as already mentioned. a good video card solves alot of issues. william

there is no magic bullet. As said, lower your settings, remove all that high res scenery, mesh, and aircraft, turn off all weather, fly only at night. And upgrade your hardware to the very highest spec money can buy every other week.
