Complex panel with simple aircraft

Just wondering... Keeping a fancy panel in memory has got to cost some overhead, right? So could performance be increased by taking a complex aircraft + panel package (like PMDG or LDS) and replacing the fancy aircraft model with something simpler, like the MSFS default airplane?There was a thread recently about doing the opposite, i.e. using a commercial aircraft with a default panel. How about dumping the commercial aircraft and keeping the complex panel with all the systems simulation? WOuld that increase performance?---Will

Well, I suppose I could, but I'm worried about destryoing an expensive add-on in a futile attempt to make things better. So I was hoping to hear from someone who had tried this already. But there's always the option to re-install right? I'll keep you posted. (I'm getting decent FPS with the PMDG 737NG, but it wouldn't hurt to move from "decent" to "great." So maybe this idea would help. I obviously couldn't care less about what the OUTSIDE of the aircraft looks like; I'm only interested in cockpit and systems simulation.)---Will

Many pilots have merged the payware PSS A320 family panel with the freeware iFDG model and it works very well indeed.
