As2016/ASCA for P3Dv4 beta #2 Available

Recommended Posts

You can now use Full Dynamics

I had to delete the config file in %Appdata% hifi\ACA to get the update to apply correctly

My install seemed to go without a hitch. What indication did you get that something went wrong?

I've been thinking of getting ASCA. So is it compatible with P3Dv4? I don't see it on their site.

Yes, ASCA is compatible with Prepar3D v4, you can download both ASP4 and the ASCA update below:

https://hifisimtech.com/active-sky-for-p3dv4-open-beta/

ASP4 is a free upgrade for owners of AS16 for Prepar3D v3.  There is a cross platform upgrade license for owners of ASN for FSX and Prepar3D and AS16 for FSX.

Just to make sure I'm not crazy, does Full Dynamics choose sky color schemes randomly?

I decided to take a peak and compare P3D v3 and v4 using Full Dynamics.  I loaded up P3D v3 and P3D v4 a few times.  Each time, my sky color was different.

Well, I couldn't find it in the manual, but I did find this on HiFi's website:

ASCA’s Full Dynamics theme, simultaneous variation of up to 8 different texture sets (128 cloud textures total) are provided including simultaneous texture resolution to provide increased performance for certain cloud types that don’t require high resolution (such as overcast layers).

So, I'm guessing the answer is yes.  For some reason, I was thinking that the sky color wasn't randomly chosen.

Yes, it does.  Within ASCA, you can choose whether to let it change your sky textures dynamically or not.  You can also indicate the conditions each sky texture is used. I have EnvTex and their sky textures are compatible with ASCA so they will change dynamically based on weather conditions. I like the EnvTex sky sets a little better than the ASCA sets.
