PTA v2.51 - Dark patches of shadows

Recommended Posts

[P3DV4]

Hi all,

Just to quickly start out by saying that I have had this issue since installing PTA v2.51, I do not recall having this issue with the first version on V4. 6a3d5b7281.pnge9e94d4110.jpg

As you can see above, there are some very dark patches of shadows, almost pitch black and looks like a lake of oil.

I am unsure of which tweak this is within the PTA tool itself. I am using the Matt Davies v1.1 preset which comes with PTA. I have adjusted a few tweaks of my own however.

1. Turned off Alternate Lighting for clouds

2. Turned down Cloud Shadows Depth from 1.15 to 1.1

3. Turned down Ambient Sunlight ratio [Terrain Lighting] to 0.5

None of the above tweaks changed the dark patches of shadow. Aside from this small problem with PTA, everything else looks 10/10. Thank you for porting the tool over to V4 for us. Am look forward to the next update!

Thanks much, Andrew.

In reality cloudshadows have lighter and darker parts. Darker places where the cloud itself is thicker and lighter parts where the cloud is thinner...

Is there any chance that you would be able to point out which tweak it would be to alter the very dark patches?

Try with cloud shadow depth at 0.8 to start with. If now the cloud shadows are not dark enough you can try with steps of 0.05.

I had the same issue with shadows. The cause was URP, after changing shaders settings to Low contrast w/o reshade everything is ok.
