Steering wheel axis in Prepar3d V4

Recommended Posts

Crosswinds shouldn't matter. The FSUIPC Steering set or tiller function is smart. I.E, Below 35 kts ground speed the tiller is active and gives full range. During this time the rudder still controls the nosewheel something about 8 degrees.

Above 35kts the tiller is locked out, and the rudder becomes more and more effective as speed increases. Once in the air and during the flare the rudder has full authority and movement. Therefore you shouldn't worry being unable to control the aircraft in a X-Wind situation, because you certainly can.

This above situation implies you have one axis for tiller and another separate one for rudder*

Btw, going back to the original topic. I mapped the steering axis to the unused joystick, and it works like a charm. Wheel turns, but the rudder stays still. Outstanding.

Hi Marko

Does this work with PMDG.

Also did you use p3D v4 built in function or FSUIPC "steering set" ?.

yes it works with PMDG aircraft. But keep in mind that just because you assign another axis to the airplane's tiller it will not disconnect the "simplified" steering that moves the tiller with the rudders.

The FSL a320 correct that... If you press the comma, you have control over the tiller, if not only over the rudder....
