Crash Detection when loading cold and dark

Recommended Posts

Spent a while last night brushing up on my cold and dark starts last night, I went to practice some more tonight and every time i tried to load cold and dark from left CDU it triggered crash detection,

It only worked twice so far tonight, once was when i tried it on the runway at the default P3D Runway and a heavy gate at Barcelona LEBL . It crashed at KMCO. KJFK, and EIDW My 777 1.10.8363 is up to date and running V4 P3D.

Anyone got any ideas, is it a known problem? i searched here for a while before posting but could only find FMC/CTD problems this is not a CDT problem

BTW KMCO is where i was using last night without incident.

Hi Stephen,

Yes, I have an idea: turn off crash detection!  It's pretty useless and unrealistic.  You will know if you have done a hard landing and you will get obvious warnings if you over speed or have a tail strike.

Chances are it's being triggered by 3rd party scenery objects which are invisible but are there for the scenery design. Fairly sure the PMDG manuals say to turn this off.

Yeah I had it off during my FSX and V3 years. I'll turn if off again. Thought this time I'd leave it on for realism I was always clipping wings when parking 😊

I don't find it to be very realistic.  If there is a crash on landing it resets to maybe 10 seconds before touchdown, which provides insufficient time to take control and eliminate the problem that  led to the crash.  Even worse with an aircraft like the PMDG 777 which has about a 20 second countdown.

Years ago in FS9, after a 14 hour flight to Hong Kong's Kaitak, I did a decent landing, but as I was taxiing off the runway I hit some invisible scenery obstacle and the sim reset to a typically useless point in the final approach.  No more crash  detection  after that!
