Swissair

So... what's cooking everyone?

Over here, something with a sligthly different concept.

So... as you might know, Swissair started operating the 747 in 1971 with delivery of two 747-257Bs.
After a satisfactory service period, an order was placed for further 747-200s with SUD mod, which was later converted to 747-300s.

Four 747-357s joined Swissair fleet in 1983, two of those Combis, joined by another Combi in 1987.

The upcoming series of fictional repaints will chronicle the life of a 747-457M, which would have been selected to complement and later replace the older 300s, joining the Swissair fleet somewhere in the mid-90s.

At this point, I have not yet done the Chocolate Stripe livery, that would have adored a pre-1995 entry into the fleet, so you can imagine it's latter half of the 90s, Swissair is already getting it's Airbii delivered, but there is one last Boeing incoming:
(useless trivia for today: Swissair never operated any Boeing airplane, except for the 747. However, they stayed with Dougles from before WWII until the 90s)

As we know, Swissair didn't survive the crisis post-2001, due to many factors including unwise investments in the 90s, as well as the crash of MD-11 off Nova Scotia.
Tumultuous as the times must have been, a way was found to move operation to a new airline - built on exising partner, Crossair. This airline would be named Swiss International Air Lines.

Some aircraft were adorned with new titles, while still carrying the same old basic livery.

Swiss eventually repainted all aircraft in the new livery and joined Star Alliance. Just recently, new 777-300ERs started arriving (unfortunately, the rumors that Swiss would order 747-8is didn't materialize), so this bird can get ready to retire from Swiss service.

And for those who read all the way down here - a bonus.

I like that "bonus"...

Now if you can do that in the Billboard Livery, then you definitely have a fan.
