Uninstalling + Reinstalling n00b - do I need to save anything?

Hi all,

Basically - I have backups of my aircraft config files and key commands and that sort of stuff - but do I need to copy them back in after an uninstall/reinstall?  Or does the uninstaller/installer leave these alone?  I remember last time it left some stuff behind, I just can't remember what.

The [fltsim] sections of your aircraft.cfg will point to all installed liveries, i'd copy those sections somewhere and when the new aircraft.cfg is written, copy those sections back in.

no need  to  just run  the oc  before  you uninstall   and  when  you  run the oc  again it  will  reinstall everything  again

IT did in my P3DV3 version but never in my P3DV4. Not sure what i am doing wrong . 

After a uninstall/reinstall OC only tells  me that there are empty livery folders and i can  choose to ignore or delete. No repair option. 

If i delete these folders and install new liveries again it finds the original ini files for that livery and I can choose to overwrite or add a new one with a (1) added to it.

You might want to export your controller settings (joystick,keys, etc.). I exported them in P3Dv3 and re-imported them in v4. Works like a charm and saved me at least an hour setting everything up as I had it before.

Other than that, I'd suggest to back up your old configs (eg. preapred.cfg, etc.). Just in case. They may come in handy as a reference when setting up the new sim and something just doesn't work the way it should be.

I have completely uninstalled P3Dv3, all add-ons etc. No 3rd party stuff like PFPX. That can stay where it is. Then v4 came in and I started fresh. No problems since then. And that's a remarkable thing to say about any flight simulator :D

We have the same issue reported already and it is on the fix board...  Just need to find some time to play with it in the debugger so I can figure out why it isn't handling them properly.
