Which win10 edition? Home or Pro

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I want to go from win7 to win10 for P3D v4.

Should it be the pro edition or is the Home edition also ok?
Which updates should it include?

Thanks,
Christos

I am personally using home edition. Aside from not being able to use remote desktop, I doubt there is much else of a difference, performance-wise.

Some will say use Professional because it sounds better. However unless there's a particular feature you need, you can safely go with Home:

The main difference is in the manageability features and the ability to join a domain, something home users rarely do.

I agree the lack of a Remote Desktop server (it has an RDP client) is a bit of a silly omission, but there are alternatives like VNC and Chrome Remote Desktop.

The biggest plus to go Pro...is that you aren't going to be a forced-W10 Beta Tester. You can defer any feature -update for up to a year...and then only when M.S. has it stable...will you get a forced Creator's Update, or whatever. That is one feature that I would, and did...pay for.

Well, I prefer a fully updated operating system, which I have with W10 Home. No-one held a gun to my head & 'forced' me to get it!

I'm much happier that my OS is getting regularly updated with the latest patches, anti-virus stuff & whatever.  W

You can block updates on home but not for to long as you may loose support in the future.

And for people not on windows 10 but planning new PC builds for flight sim with the latest hardware bad news.
