Excuse me sempai~
Care to tell me what other settings I should bring down? :-DDD

Specs:

i7 2600k @ 4.3Ghz

8GB RAM

GTX 980

Lol 8x SSAA. The arrogance with your statement is hysterical. Perhaps read and internalize the statement RSR made in regards to DL.

I just tried in the PMDG 777 at FlyTampa Copenhagen at RWY-04R at 00:00.

With 8xSSAA
With ALL lights ON
4-6 FPS

With ALL light OFF
20-23 FPS

With 2xMSAA
With ALL lights ON
33-35 FPS

With ALL lights OFF
28-32 FPS

As far as I can see, setting your AA settings so anything starting with SS** absolutely KILLS the performance... Kinda what we saw with the cloud performance (which so many people reported about a year ago). That was optimized and so will Dynamic Lights in time... Right now, just set your AA setting to either 2xMSAA or 4xMSAA, and you'll have minimum impact.

Stating the this is an issue, problem or bug with the PMDG777/747 is simply wrong. It's out of PMDG's control, so to speak. That PMDG haven't provided an option to switch between the legacy and new lighting model, is something which has been explained by the developer. It isn't as easy *just* to switch between and supporting both, is not a simple copy-paste of code.

This is a thing Lockheed-Martin most ilkely will have a look at, and will be optimized through future patches and updates.

What resolution are you using for your monitor? 1080p or 4k? What type of GPU are you using?

Oh, sorry I forgot to write that... 1080p with a GTX1060

Okay thanks. I am on a 50 inch 4k with a 980Ti. Have not gone to v4 yet (still on 3.4) but I only use MSAA so was just wondering how my system will fare. On 3.4 it's no issues.

I have a 980ti.

PMDG 777 with dynamic lighting on produces stutters - no fun. If you switch dynamic lighting off in P3D, no stutters, but then you have no taxi and landing lights. Both is a no-go.

Basically, I see no sense in introducing a new feature (DL) in PMDG v4 aircrafts if it cannot be switched off. Especially if that very feature can be switched off in the sim.

Chris

I have the same card. As suggested above, I dropped from 8xSSAA to 8xMSAA and the problem went away. I get around 45fps with sliders between mid and max.

I am at 2x SSAA (and 8x Anisotropic filtering) because some sceneries / textures showed some flickering with MSAA. Will try 8x MSAA, and see how it performs. As an alternative I could do two settings: one setting for day flights (SSAA + DL Off) and one setting for night flights (MSAA and DL On). As soon as SimStarter is ready for V4, making such sets will be easy. Is there a performance impact if DL is ON during daytime?

I haven't tried with DL off to be honest. These are my current test settings:

FXAA - On
AA - 8xMSAA
Anisotropic - 16x
Texture - Ultra
Res - 1920x1080
Vsync - On
Triple Buffering - On

TERRAIN
Radius - Ultra
Tessellation - High
Mesh - 2m
Texture Res - 30cm
High res - On

SCENERY
Complexity - extreme
Autogen distance - high
Autogen veg - dense
Autogen building - dense
dynamic veg - on

WATER
detail - medium
reflections - clouds, user vehicle

EFFECTS
detail - high
distance - high

LIGHTING
HDR - on
Dynamic reflections - off
dynamic lighting - on
lights illuminate ground - on
lens flare - off

SHADOWS
quality - medium
distance - low
cast/receive - internal/external vehicle

WEATHER
cloud distance - 110mi
coverage - max
detailed clouds
volumetric fog
detailed precipitation

I'm using UK2000 EGLL, Active sky for P3D v4 and the PMDG 777 and 747 for testing the best set up. With the above my average is 45fps and rarely drops below 28fps. I know all systems are different, but this is what works for me.

The only thing you forgot to put was type of monitor and size? 1080p or a 4k? Makes a difference on how much work the gpu has to do.

Running DL on in 4K with 2xMSAA.... works fine for me. The fps drop a bit but still ok to fly.

Still happy with everything so far. I just fly now and stop complaining about the small issues :-)

Read the very first set of settings. 1920 x 1080. Size is irrelevant.

Well I'm on 4k. My frames will not be as good then.

I just did a takeoff at FB KMSP with Dynamic light on (only landing lights) in the PMDG777 and noticed AI Traffic also has a HUGE impact . Looks amazing btw.

GTX970 SLI

So try without any Traffic

Thanks Michael Moe
