That's just a 3D model of a box

One can only imagine the work involved in actually writing software to emulate a modern day airliner's systems and hardware to make that box do anything useful

Yes, Captain Obvious. I am well aware that it will take far more effort to code realistic systems than just produce a 3D model, which is why in my original comment I stated that I wouldn't guess which year it would be ready.
It might never be released as it may prove too ambitious a project, given the lack of source material to base the flight and systems modelling on.

However, for everyone who hopes it does become a reality and is a success -

Well as long as we have a wish list, I would like to see the Embraer E-170 to E-195 jets.

My wishlist : Any Fokker. 50, 70 ,100

Unfortunately Aerosoft/Digital Aviation are unable to renew their F70/F100.

I know Carenado plans an F50, but ....

What can I say, I still want a Fokker 50 :-).

Well there is at least an F27 Friendship available, which got a Silver Award in its Mutley's Hangar review and a PC Pilot Classic Award when they reviewed it. The F27 was developed into the F50, which I suppose makes the F27 its mother Fokker.
