P3D v4, Scenery Problem - weird

Recommended Posts

Today I started getting messages at v4 start up stating that various add-on sceneries were installed but not activated (would I like to activate the scenery).  The sceneries being referred to were obviously from the old P3D v3 installation which was uninstalled completely prior to installing v4.  In fact, I formatted the drive prior to installing v4.  The only thing I can think of is that my v3 is still in my Roaming/Lockheed directory and v4 is picking something up.

Anyway, this indicates something is amiss.  What would you suggest?  I'm not too far along for a complete uninstall and reinstall of v4 but I'd do that as a last resort.

For me, I'd start P3D and NOT activate those sceneries. Then I'd look in the Scenery Library  to see if there are any odd entries. P3D itself keeps the V3 and V4 folders separate so I don't really think that's it.

Look in your documents folder be sure you have the add-on xml files for ONLY the sceneries you want. I have a feeling you have some entries in there that do not belong.

At this point, I would NOT uninstall V4.

You must have copied and pasted some back up xml files without cleaning them up first, could be no other reason (if you had reformatted).

Yes, I ended up going through the system and deleting every v3 file or entry found.  Did a reinstall of v4 on formatted SSD.  No problem, only took a few hours or less. All is good now.
