Does this haze look right to you guys?

Hi guys, been playing around with pta and quite like the thopat profile, the only bit I'm not sure about is the haze. 

It seems about ott, although as I don't fly in RL, I've no idea if it's realistic or not. 

 

Are there any rl pilots in here who can have a look and let me know their thoughts.

It looks a little bit too hazy for me. Should this be a "foggy" condition? Most important, what weather tool do you use and what sim?

Have you tried PTAbsolute profiles?  "Natural set"  looks good to me.

I also think ASP4 isn't set properly. Can you post us your settings like visibility settings?

Your screenshot looks more like fog than haze, but it could just possibly be realistic for haze if there was an inversion layer right at your exact altitude, although in this case, the altitude is perhaps a little high for you to be right in the inversion.

So there typically isn't a visibility setting in a sim which is a 'one size fits all' solution, rather it will depend upon what your favourite altitude to fly at in your sim is, and the typical weather you like to have. If you love flying a microlight in your sim right up at the altitude where a typical inversion layer forms, horizontal visibily due to haze could well be as affected as in your picture, but if you like flying airliners six miles above the Earth, then the straight-down view through a thin band of particles at the altitude of an inversion will mean you can see a lot of stuff clearly down below you and will only find visibility is affected much further out on the more distant horizon, where you'll be looking slant-wise through a lot of that inversion layer.

The phenomenon is known as 'rayleigh scattering', where the shorter wavelengths of visible light - i.e. the blues and violets - bounce around all over the place as they hit tiny particles floating about in the air, so you see more blue light rays and these overpower the other colours, hence you get 'haze', and this why it affects distant objects more.

Things looking blue in the distance is often more pronounced on a sunny day (also why our planet looks very blue when seen from space, since there is a lot of blue light from the oceans bouncing around all over the place). The effect is very pronounced at around the 2-4,000 feet AGL typical of an inversion - tiny dust particles get held in the air by thermal activity, but those particles stop going up on warm air when they hit the inversion layer (where the temperature then drops off markedly) - those particles then spread out under the temperature inversion into a thick band and it is this which makes visibility really crappy at that height. It's why it can be hard to get a glider up above that altitude and it's also the reason why it can be difficult to spot airfields which are only a couple miles away when pottering about in a Cessna up at 2,500 feet.

If one understands the phenomenon, it helps in creating a suiable setting for one's particular favourite height to fly at in a flight sim. As a plus point for flight simmers, if you like flying GA aeroplanes and go for 'lovely flying weather', it means you can really reduce the LOD radius for scenery; being able to see autogen scenery ten miles away from a typical GA aeroplane's altitude is totally unrealistic, buildings and specific ground details out over about four miles away typically just cannot be seen in any detail at all if there is haze about, they all merge into a pale bluish vague impression of what lies in the disance.

Regarding the haze you do not need ASCA, only ASP4..

I was responding to your earlier post - use AS16  <------  

AS16 does not work with P3D4 - was not talking about ASCA

SO - in your earlier post I assume you meant ASP4 not AS16?

If you were in the UAE, that would be haze, but it would be even worse in the summer. Just saying :-)

Its normal if You have wrong configured AS2016 for P3D and use option volumeric fog on. Use upper maximum visible to 200 in AS settings. Will be ok and haze will be present also but not like on your shot.
