Black Marble worldwide nightlighting system is coming

Featured Replies

Chris, this look damn impressive! I'm tempted to purchase the base package and vector...

Just a question: You're saying, that you update native data in P3D. What if I have for instance FTX Global and/or an FTX Region installed. Wouldn't those sceneries be displayed instead of Black Marble? Or to put in another way - is Black Marble only displayed when you're looking at default scenery, or does is it displayed with FTX Global and/or FTX Regions as well?

Or am I missing something?!

Best regards,

these are all landclass function that can be disabled very easily through Sim's config files!
you don't need or want same road system loading twice in general,
you can manually deactivate our files for a specific area if you wish to allow other lighting system to perform in the same region,

we also use exclude which you can remove from desired area to allow both products to co exist visually if you wish,

our vector roads data is visible throughout daytime as well as night time,
only at night you have full control over the lighting system,

with Black Marble lighting system you wont be needing any road or lighting supplements anywhere in the world to begin with!

Hmm - okay... Thanks for the answer, @Chris Bell. I'm not sure, I understand, though...

Would love to see some screenshots of Black Marble, with FTX Global installed as well.

Best regards,

your request makes no sense Anders!!!
ill let you draw your own conclusion as for why

Sim's Default look

with FTX Global

with UTX NA

with Black Marble Base

with Black Marble Base + Vector

and for general reference here is Night Environment same location

now... what was that question again, mix the two
did i mentioned... this is worldwide!!!

we had members ask freely for any place on the globe they wanted to see Black Marble, we did!
scroll through our image carousel on Black Marble's website you will see shoots from the most desolated places on Sim's globe looks vivid just as this and then some!

Okay thanks, Chris. I (think) I understand now.
I look forward to seeing it in action, when it's released in a couple of weeks...

Best regards,

I still don't get how the mix of FTX Global + BM Base + BM Vector will work..... but we will see :-)

FTX Global uses some functional roads on their landclass textures + the default roads system on top of it.

BM Base replaces the look of the default roads system conpletely. It uses the default roads system.

BM Vector replaces the default roads system by a new roads system , where all roads in the world are there at their exact places.

You don't see any of this at night. What sacrifice you need to make then ?

You have to go to the menu to adjust your settings for night flight, for me that spoils immersion

but, as has been said your comments are more aligned toward NE, not BM

for the record, i love the night flying improvements, a superb game changer for me

thanks

I think the roads in BM can still be seen during the day. If that's the case, I believe you just need to deselect the roads in the Orbx Vector UI and then both will work in harmony. Also probably need to shut off the road night lighting in Orbx Vector though with the roads deselected I don't think the 3D lighting will show.

this is an informational thread; why was it moved to the bargain area?
now i cant promote Black Marble and our 25% discount there

Honestly i don't understand some Moderators behaviour concerning moving this thread to the bergain subforum. As well as closing complete subforums weeks ago and then reopening it.  But this is the way it is with avsim..

Anyway, i already ordered BM, Chris

and here

i hope this answers your question?

Thanks for the answer but it doesn't answer my concern completely, perhaps i didn't explain it clearly.

As I understood in the links you gave me. We can disable certain region of BM Base, correct? The reason I ask is because I have some Orbx airports that require FTX Global (not Vector) and FTX Australia. So I need to have them installed. What would be the solution when I installed BM?

I apologise if you keep getting the same question over and over again. It is just another big investment and I need to be able to justify it. It would be disappointing if I can't use my orbx airports.

first i will personally assure you that will not be the case!

FTX Global can remain installed regardless!
you can activate your regions as required by their manager,
having Black Marble doesn't mean you need to remove or uninstall any parts of FTX!
there are ways to deactivate targeted features as needed through their interface or manually,

there will be cases where certain setups will require manual fiddling with cfg files,
whatever those may be we can add later as a GUI option or external fix if its global,
we cant predict everyone's setup variations at this point or how we will handle each case!

generally speaking we all use a plain Sim platform as our test bed!
no developer i know uses third party with their development or considers any during development,

with that said there is nothing that cannot be fixed between our group of engineers or orbx's!
