Photo scenery on internal or external HD

Recommended Posts

I need an advise. Can I have a large photoscenery on an external HD WD 4 gb USB 3.0, or is it better to buy an internal HD. I use P3DV4.

I mean you COULD but load times would be in the area of up to 20-30 minutes. I'd personally go with an internal drive.

I have my P3D 3.4 on an internal 500GB SSD and all my photoscenery on an external 5TB HDD with USB 3.0. Of course I don't have all of my photoscenery at all times activated. But to give you an example: if I have ORBX GEN, Global, Vector plus photoscenery for Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Northern Italy activated ( 260 GB for the photoscenery w/o ORBX), my load time for the first start up is usually around 4 to 5 minutes. If I close down P3D and restart it within let's say 5 minutes, load time goes down to 2 minutes.

But that's just me !! Others will have different experiences

Btw, these are my specs: i7-4970 @3.60 GHz, GTX 970 Nvidia

Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds

My specs: AMD Radeon RX6700XT, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB RAM, 34" monitor, screen resolution: 2560x1080
