I fly with the atr 72 at kbos v2 with no weather. I get bad fps 4-9. Do you think ultimate terrain is the prob?? I do not have any road checked on ut configuator as well as landclass and rails are not checked. I just got a new video card after having integrtaed graphics. I usually get bad fps with the atr 72 when flying on any addon scenery.. And ofcourse even worse with VC. just seems too much.

Make sure you have in your BIOS turned off the on-board video chip and turned off any options for ram "holes" it may have required.I highly recommend going to 1 GB or 1.25 GB of ram.You did not give details of your add-on video card.Make sure using an application manager you have turned off any unneeded applications and services while in FS. If you are not physically connected to on-line during FS you can block firewall and antivirus services, instant messaging, etc.You would probably get more help in the hardware forum.

Ranco1,Please tell us what your video card is. Until just recently I ran FS with a very similiar machine (HP 3.06ghz). I got decent frame rates.My first guess would be the video card. After that, memory. However we can test to see if you have memory problems.So find out your card and we can go from there.

Do what ronzie says! I forgot that I had to access the BIOS when I added a PCI video card to my AGP-less HP. I don't rmember what the variable is called but you will recognize it as selecting either the PCI card or the integrated video. Sorry. R-

Try to find the common denominator. Fly the atr at a different busy airport, fly the atr at a non-busy airport, fly a simarly complex plane at kbos, fly a simple plane at kbos.After trying these different things you should be able to identify if it is one thing in particular or if it is everything together. Everything together would indicate a ram issue.Definitely 500mb is not enought for fs9, my installation chews up 500mb when i get to the first menu. Video ram is also important in complex areas, my upgrade from 128mb card to a 256mb card has made a big difference at busy airports. But in your case I would upgrade the system memory first, especially because system memory is so cheap now.Cheers,

Hi Alex,Got to think that your MB would have an AGP slot. I know you just purchased that video card, but I would sure look into that part. Maybe an exchange is possible?Your CPU is pretty powerful, not the strongest, but users have gotten by with less.So then we look to all the software drivers and make sure that they are up to date. I wish you were closer to Michigan or I to Florida and I would stop on by. Thanks for all the help,My motherboard only has 3 pci slots no agp or pci-e. It would cost to much to upgrade to an agp or pci-e slot and then buy an agp or pci-e card. I am going to convert all the kbosv2 textures to dxt1 and see if it helps. Your mobo chipset supports PCI-E as in a similar mobo:- Intel LGA775 Pentium 4 CPU- Intel 915GV chipset- Dual-Channel DDR 400- PCI Express Architecture- 64-bit CPU support- Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900- Integrated 10/100 LANso you should have a PCI-Express capable video card. These boards do not have an AGP slot AFAIK.You turn off via the BIOS usually under Integrated Peripherals access to the on-board video controller. There may be another way if you spot a graphics card option.Since you have an HP machine there may be a special way to get into the BIOS. Check your manual or go to the support area of hp.com for your product, select your model, look at FAQs, and if you do not have a manual you should be able to download it. Sometimes with HP stuff you have to boot from a utility CD to get to the BIOS.
