Fuel and Engines Shutting Down during flight

Hi,

I recently attempted to complete a flight from Sydney to Tokyo.  I had 99223 kgs of fuel in total.  This fuel was loaded into FMC and ended up with fuel in wing tanks only which is fine.

Was an overnight flight so I woke up in morning to prepare for descent and noticed engines 1 and 4 had shutdown due to lack of fuel.  

I had all main pumps on including OVRD switches and XFEED valves 2 and 3 on and 1 and 4 off.  

Can anyone help me understand why I would have run out of fuel?  The fuel figure was taken from Simbrief and is always spot on.

I thought this was covered in the Tutorial. Regardless, note that the outboard tanks are much smaller than the inboard ones and this is why 1 & 4 ran out of fuel  The main fuel management strategy is to burn center wing tank CWT first then burn 1 & 2 from inboard 2 tank and 3 & 4 from inboard 3 tank.... until the inboards are brought down to about the same as outboards and then you switch to tank to engine.  Each tank feeds its respective engine.  There is even an option to make this last change automatic but you first get to learn how it all works before relying on automation.

Gotta read the intro manual and tutorials. We can only set you up for success. It's a study sim, so you're going to have to do your part to operate the aircraft properly.
