P3DV4 no Tweaks? maybe not..

Recommended Posts

I have been reading that V4 does not need any tweaks, but runs great out of the box..

To my surprise, I found this entry in the Prepar3D.cfg file:

MAX_VC_TEXTURE_RESOLUTION=1024

That is while I have 2048 selected for texture resolution in the sim.

Changing this to

MAX_VC_TEXTURE_RESOLUTION=2048

gives me crisper textures in the cockpit...  Hmmmm :cool:

4770K@4.1, GTX770.

Ultra high definition textures in a VC. Maybe I should break out my skills and remap some of these bad boys in 2048, I wonder if 4096 will work as well.

Many addon airplanes have 2048 or 4096 bit textures for the VC.

It's not new.  Has been around since at least v3.4 - https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/504308-effect-of-max_vc_texture_resolution-setting-on-p3dcfg/

Best regards,

Jim

Tomorrow I am going to test with Lower shadow Texture values. That worked in P3Dv3. With an OC up to 25% more fps

With P3Dv4 :

Opaque shadow value is default 2046

Translucent shadow value is default 512

Yes, I agree.  Wonder why this is not a checkmark in the P3D Settings page and, well, hidden?

Best regards,

Jim
