Question about scenery

Recommended Posts

I know X-Plane 11 uses real world mapping for it's default scenery , roads , rivers etc.and am wondering of Prepar3D does the same.

Also , does Prepar3D coverage incude the world or just select parts.

Kind of curious. Txs

Yes and yes. Accurate placement of roads, rivers, etc and full world coverage.

Accuracy depends on the underlying data.  X-plane uses data from OSM and virtually all roads are pretty close to bang on their real world counterparts. This is quite evident by the fact the can be laid on top of the ortho photo scenery.  Prepar3d uses vector data to display main roads and some secondary roads, but not all roads like X-plane does.  Additional roads such as residential areas are just baked into the textures which are placed according the landclass information. Thats why in Prepar3d, FSW or FSX you will see vector roads slicing through baseball diamonds and across subdivisions, etc with no rhyme nor reason. Even with Orbx Vector and Landclass you will see that, but in full regions they do a pretty good job of mitigating it.
