Why am I having such a hard time?

Recommended Posts

Ok, I am supposed to read the manuals and the tutorials, but as I do with all new aircrafts,  I like to get them up in the air as quickly as possible and then, slowly, go through the manuals for better familiarization and, eventually, total command. This is not real life, and my time is limited, so I take short cuts-- like tasting a meal before deciding to read the recipe.

I downloaded the DC6 yesterday and, despite glancing at the manuals, I am having difficulty taking the plane for a spin.

The auto Engineer panel confuses me. When I click "abort", I still can't get the throttles to move( and I have a quadrant with FSUIPC).

Am I wrong, or shouldn't the "ready to taxi" option get the plane ready for me to takeoff and fly?

When I push the throttle levers forward, I see the gauges move, but not the levers. Yes, I've disconnected the gust lock. And when the plane is moving down the runway, I can barely get it up to speed.

Can someone kindly provide me with just the minimum steps to get the bird in the air? It's FSX.

I just want to do some touch and go's having total control of the aircraft.

thanks

tony

This is the problem. There are a few threads here in the forum that go over getting FSUIPC properly set up. Here's one:

Ready for taxi means that, ready to taxi, not for departure. There are the before takeoff and takeoff steps to be done before you are able to fly.

I recommend to minimum read the intro and tutorial 1 before attempting any flight.

Kyle beat me on the FSUIPC staff so I removed it :)

Thanks, guys. It was the "fsuipc" set up that needed reading.

Go it going, and it's a beauty to fly.
