Beautiful areas to fly VFR with GA planes?

Recommended Posts

Guys, I have been flying tubeliners for awhile and wanted to take a break and fly some of my GA planes for some stunning VFR flights. I love nature such as beautiful coastlines, moutains, hills and landscapes. The only scenic places that I really flown around was Hawaii. I'm trying to expand further and want to try other parts of the world. I love to do short hops from airport to airport. So if you guys now of any good routes that would take me through some amazing and breathtaking scenery that would be great!

New Zealand and Norway are two of my favorites. Also Innsbruck and Scotland. Lot's of great low & slow stuff. I especially like to take an amphib in those areas.

I have tried New Zealand before, couldn't really rememeber if it really awe'd me that much. I will have to try it again. What about Spain, Portugal, the islands around there as well? Southern Coast of France, etc?

Anything in south and north california, Nevada and Arizona. Hundred of GA fields close to each orher. It's my favorite (real) playground in Cessna.

Start in south west, at San Diego. Head east to Sedona (KSEZ), north to Page (KPGA), Monument Valley (UT25), Brice Canyon (KBCE) then back west to San Francisco bay (in real Oakland KOAK or Concord KCCR), then go to Yosemite (Mariposa KMPI), go down desert back to Mojave (KMHV), overfly Edwards AFB and continue north east to Las Vegas (KLAS at FBO Atlantic along the 19R). Then you can close the loop and go to Santa Monica (KSMO), so close to Los Angeles Intl and experiment Mini route procedure to get back south, after overflying Miramar (KNKX) to San Diego.

Feel free to ask for more...

Agreed

start in the PNW - its better with a lot of Orbx payware but their stock airports are ok too.  Try a flight near KORS or KCLM

I'lll take Cali against the world. The only things you won't see here are swamps and hurricanes.

Wiki California. Then go get yourself Orbix Nor-Cal and So-Cal and be amazed.
