Dear all,

As I want to start flying again I also need a new desktop. I am reading a lot and I come to the following:

Budget: 1200 EUR (1400USD)

What do I want to run: FSX SE, perhaps P3D and XPlane with weather enhancement and maybe few good PMDG planes such a B777 and B747.

So far, my choice is between:

i5 7600K + GTX1060 GB (who is running with i5 7600K and what are your results in FSX?)

i7 7700K + GTX 1050 ti 4GB

What system will give me reasonable performance? I would be happy if I could run with all sliders to the right, but medium would be great as well. Smooth and high FPS is more important then quality of view.

Both systems will be equiped with 16GB DDR4 2133 mhz.

I still have a HDD from my old pc, would that work for the moment or is a SSD required?

Many thanks for your support.

I would go w 7600k OC to 4.5ghz and the 1070. 1060 only has 6gb vram i think.

Thanks for your reply. I am afraid with the 1070 I will go over my budget. I started with a budget of EUR 700, then I went to EUR 900 and now I am at EUR 1200 so I have to get best bang for buck for this amount :)

Definitely the 7600k and 1060 system, that ram is gonna kill performance tho, you want 3200mhz+

Agreed  fastest CPU is still king in any ESP based sim (FSX /P3D etc)

XP11 is more

balanced but still needs fastest cpu

still, don't expect max sliders with that rig.

Yesterday I upgraded my whole system excluding my gtx 1050ti.

My choice was:

I7-7700k

16gb ram

GIGABYTE AORUS Z270X-Gaming 7

Corsair Hydro Series H100i V2 All-In-One Extreme Performance CPU Cooler with 240mm Radiator *Factory Refurbished*

Corsair Carbide 400C Clear, Compact Mid Tower Computer Chassis, E-ATX/ATX/Micro ATX/Mini ITX, with Window, USB3.0, Black

600W Corsair Builder Series CX, Non Modular, 80 PLUS Bronze, 1x120mm Fan, ATX, PSU

and a few 120mm fans just in case...

in Scan.co.uk

Paid £852

I know I should change for a better GPU but I am happy with 30fps and not having everything maxed out is ok with me, I also don't use real scenery airports like flytampa or Aerosot.

I use ORBX, PTA, Envtex, soft clouds, (waiting for the new rex aiports HD for p3dv4) , I fly mainly PMDG, A2A and Aerosoft airbuses.

Tweaking a bit and following advice from you tube and AVSIM members is the golden rule for me

hope this helps

As you can see my setup is very similar to what you wanted and more or less on similar budget
