It's got to get quite a bit above "not that bad" to justify 60 euros. It's just too far (apparently) from it right now.

I am going to fly it this weekend at a friend's house, then i'll decide.

Under AP/GPS:

If you set up a flight plan in P3D v4 Scenario Setup, will it follow that?

Can you set up VS & an altitude target such that it will climb at the designated VS & level out at the preset altitude?

The answer to your first question is "no".

In answer to the second question: It will level off at your selected altitude, but you should do it in speed hold mode (generally 290 knots). You could do it in vertical speed mode, but that can be dangerous - it can lead to a stall.

Whichever climb mode you use, you need to be ready to reduce power manually when it levels off, or it will overspeed. There are no autothrottles.

Further to the above response I think there is no VS option. It is a pitch setting which is followed. Again the altitude is set and the aircraft levels off at that. More like the turboprops.

I have not had any problem of the model following the FP.

Again, for users looking to fly a simple set up this aircraft is not it.

I feel that this one really needs FS2Crew to really complete a stress free flight. Just a lot to do for a single pilot particularly because of the peculiarities of the throttle setup which makes it a challenge in approach/departure phase. I don't think the cruise phase is much of a problem.

The throttle setup is critical and a dedicated throttle will really help. For this aircraft I am using the keyboard because it is much more incremental. My joystick has an integral throttle which does not work well.

Use IAS hold for climb and VS for descents.

Safer this way and more reliable.

That's because he's a simmer like me.  

IRL you'd probably get pitch oscillations (at least that is what I was told), so you'd want to avoid speed on elevators for the descent. Instead, in V/S mode the pitch changes get converted into speed changes, but flying within a narrow speed window should be OK under most circumstances.

Must say, though, speed mode works pretty nicely in the sim - virtual passengers don't complain, so ... why not there?

Meanwhile over at the Aerosoft Forums it's utter chaos because theres so many problems with the CRJ, and they have no idea how to fix it.

The developers are starting to become rude to the customers. It's sad really.

I'm not surprised, it happened on the Airbus and soon after they became arrogant.

Looks like Hans had a bad day yesterday, but today he's in much better shape again.

Still it seems that Aerosoft released this CRJ two months earlier than Hans could ever get it ready for release ...   ;-)

Pretty sure it will look much more convincing in a couple of weeks.

I have done it that way too, but I find v/s easier to manage.  Same in the Q400

Well the inability of the FMS to properly follow a flight plan persists for me even with the latest release version V1005 despite what Han's says over on the Aerosoft forums.
