Arghhh, double engine bird strike! :)

Recommended Posts

Hi X-Planers!

I was operating a Jet2 flight in the IXEG 737 yesterday and immediately at the point of rotation, I saw an amazing depiction of a huge flock of birds right in front of the windshield, followed by two loud bangs, a twin engine failure and getting her back down and to a RTO stop, within inches of the end of the runway!

It was a serious adrenalin rush, completely unexpected and good fun ......... but!...... I have limited time and had to completely restart the flight as my electrics were lost, along with all of the flight planning in the FMC, etc!

So, I'm trying to turn this feature off but whereas it was easy to find in XP10, I cannot find any parameter for this feature in XP11?   ..... Or was it a feature of the IXEG??

Either way, if anyone can advise on how to deactivate this feature I'd be very grateful.

Cheers.

Try opening the file "X-Plane 11\Output\preferences\X-Plane.prf", search for the entry "renopt_deer_birds" and change its value from "1" to "0".

Wow, X-Plane depicts bird strikes! That's impressive and awesome, except for the poor birds of course.

over does it a little bit, not just a random bird or 2 but a whole flock. Must be Galahs they teh only birds Ive ever known that deliberately fly at your car, which is why they are called Galahs, Stupid things.
