Transparent gear bays on DC-6B

Recommended Posts

First of all thanks for a great model.

During testing of a new livery that I am working on, I discovered that I can look through the gear bays of the B model.
I checked other liveries (including the house livery), and all appears to have the same issue. I also checked the A model,
and all are looking fine.

Sim: FSX/acc/Win 7

Interesting. Verified and passed on to the team. Thanks.

It is Braathens SAFE. I can remember this aircraft from the late sixties when I grew up living near to the airport. From 1962 to 1973 Braathens operated 7 DC-6B.

Has anyone else (who runs FSX) experienced the transparent main landing gear bay issue on the B model?
It only occurs on the B model (all liveries). The A model looks fine.

I know that this have been passed on to the team. Are there any news about a fix?

I'm also waiting for the wheel texture fix.

Yes, I have seen it in FSX, if I remember, it is present in both the DC-6A and DC-6B

Well, after the latest update the missing material issue still persists....

It is there because the fix was not included on the latest update. Most probably in the next round

Hi.

Fired up my FSX+acceleration , selected the DC-6 A PMDG house colours and used the slew mode to lift it into the air , looking up into the gear bay all seemed ok .

I then shut down the sim , and on reboot of sim i selected the DC-6 B PMDG house colours , once agian used slew to lift it into the air . looking up into gearbay it was transparent.

Looking at the two house texture.cfg files i noticed a difference.

DC-6A texture .cfg file :-

[fltsim]

fallback.1=..\..\PMDG DC-6B\texture.VC

fallback.2=..\texture.common

fallback.3=..\..\PMDG DC-6B\texture.common

fallback.4=..\..\..\..\Scenery\Global\texture

fallback.5=..\..\..\..\texture

DC-6B texture .cfg file :-

[fltsim]

fallback.1=..\texture.VC

fallback.2=..\texture.common

fallback.3=..\..\..\..\Scenery\Global\texture

fallback.4=..\..\..\..\texture

If you look at both the DC-6A and B texture common files you will notice that the DC-6A calls up the Engines_left_bump and engines_right_bump again , even though they are in the DC-6 B texture common..

So i am wondering if this is the reason why the DC-6B is transparent and the DC-6A is not.

Hi.

I have just tested all my DC-6A repaints and all are ok ,and three DC-6B repaints all transparent gearbays  this looks like the DC-6B model is not calling the gearbay textures.

The 4 DC-6A aircraft i have tested and found ok are:-

DC-6A house

DC-6A air atlantic G-APSA and G-SIXC

DC-6A Buffalo

aircraft with transparent gearbays are:-

DC-6B house

DC-6B Alaska Airlines N91306

DC-6B American Airlines N90702 1946

regards Alan Cottrill.
