Hi,

For now I have 2 x 8 DDR3 1600 HyperX Fury Blue. I was planning to add 2 x 8 to have 32G.

I'm now on P3Dv4.

Question: In place of my DDR3 32G, is it not wiser to take 16G of DDR4 (financially I can not buy 32G of DDR4)

Will I actually feel a difference between the DDR3/1600 and the DDR4/2666MHz?

Thank you and Regards,

Richard Portier

From what i know, you could gain some smoothness in P3D / FSX. I've noticed that after upgrading to faster RAM. I can't prove it, but i'm sure it's not subjective

If you're still using the MAXIMUS VI FORMULA motherboard, this only supports DDR3 RAM - https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_VI_FORMULA/specifications/. That said, it does mention that it's compatible with DDR3 3000 RAM but it's probably going to be difficult to find and I think you'd pay a high price for it.

Out of interest, why do you need 32Gb of RAM? You'd probably be better off saving the money towards a new graphics card.

DrumsArt, your mainboard is not capable of DDR4, only supports DDR3! Moreover you should be really sure that a mainboard supports higher RAM speed, and it cannot run at 2.666 MHz. So, save a lot of money.

Whaou...I did not know that, thank you very much for drawing attention to these points. Of course, I did not talk about it in this topic but an ASUS STRIX-GTX1080TI-O11G was on order.
