Need Help! How to Stack Scenery Add-Ons

Recommended Posts

Folks,I'd really appreciate some help here. I own and plan to buy some scenery add-ons for FS9 and would like to know if there is an order to installing them?I own the following:MegaScenery - NYFS Scene 2004 WorldpackUltimate TerrainI'm thinking about buying some more of the MegaScenery titles as well. Any thoughts on how to install the above? I've just re-installed Windows XP and plan to do a fresh install of FS9.Thanks!!

I don't own FScene, but it is my understanding it is a texture replacement and therefore won't be an item in your scenery list.Given that, I would suggest that MNY have a higher priority than Ultimate terrain. I believe MNY gives quite extensive directions/hints on installation of the product. For instance, it is my understanding you will want to install the MNY scenery to another disk (not just another partition, another disk), and put the library at the root directory of the disk.I've written a tutorial on the subject of FS9 installation on my website. Click below and go to "Microsoft Flight Simulator", then select the "Installation" button. It goes over some of the concepts involved in scenery installation at the level I think you are looking for. It is meant for a beginner, but I think there is some good information there for all levels of experience with FS.As with everything, the work's never done. Just writing here, I just thought of another paragraph I might add. There's some other info there as well under the other buttons. Let me know what you think. Thanks,Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com/FC_StartJava.html] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)

I would recommend installing UT first, FSScene 2nd, and then your MegaSceneries but it really doesn't make any difference. MegaSceneries have their own scenery and textures and will not affect your UT or FSScene installations. Make sure UT is a higher priority in your Scenery Library (near the bottom of the Scenery Library). I put mine just above the Default Scenery. I have UT, Ground Environment, BEV textures, and all the MegaScenery installed and it looks great.Jim Young

Just to add to the confusion :)When Jim says higher priority, I think he means that it has a higher priority number and is lower in the list, which is the same thing I am saying. I usually call higher priority as having a lower number in the scenery list, since those sceneries with a higher number are drawn first, then everything is drawn on top of that in order going up the list, meaning that the scenery at priority 1 is drawn last and will take precedence over everything underneath it.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com/FC_StartJava.html] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)
