This is X-Plane 11 on low settings

Recommended Posts

The most amazing thing about XP11 is that this is how it looks on my modest system, on low settings (no HDR, Visual special effects on Minimum, etc) :gaul:

Must be some mistake. I tried the demo on high settings and I'd take fs98 over it. On low settings the fps was woeful. I've gone back to FSX. Much better looking on older hardware.

Shame, because it has great visuals it seems.

Up high it may look ok but get near the ground and airports. :)

In my experience, it's very dependent on your GPU settings.  It looked awful (and performed awful) for me initially too.  But after some tweaking (mainly not trying to override anything in the Nvidia settings), it came to life.   I have (and love) both XP11 and P3Dv4 but I get much better performance on my modest rig (i7-4790 non-k, GTX770 4GB) with XP11.

Also, a lot of people have suggested that the full version performs a lot better than the demo for some reason.

I assure you that is just a myth.

Your rig would really benefit of a new GPU, as your CPU ain't bad at all.

This is at 700' AGL.    Looks pretty amazing to me.   I wouldn't judge FSX or P3Dv4 as particularly good "out of the box".    So yes, there are a couple of addons in use here - the difference is, with XP11, they're all free!

Agreed, if those are truly low settings, it looks very good.

HDR Off (for me, it makes everything too bright, and XP11 lighting is just perfect even without it.

Visual effects Mininum.

World settings (scenery): Low to medium.

I don't know if you've tried XP11 but if you have, you'll know that there aren't many more settings to adjust now!

AA is set to whatever the middle setting is called.

I only have a GTX770, so trust me, I'm all about low settings!

Time moves on...I remember when I had a GTX680 for years...and read about all the guys and gals...who could afford those new fangled, 700 series cards...

Yep...time moves on, and runs over each and every user...lol!  There was a time not too long ago, that people drooled over a GTX770!

Cheers,

Ses

I still have my GTX 980, now in its 3rd year.  I will probably change my GPU next year though.  Main system upgrade is a major pain in the neck to do for me, so I am relying on XP11 move to Vulcan to allow me to stay with my ancient CPU longer.
